I'm in retail, but it's more the fact that I work in a wealthy town that's the problem - and even worse when I deal with people who live in the neighboring, even wealthier town. A lot of them look down on people who work in retail (lost track of the times I've heard towards me or a co-worker "they'll hire anyone these days, won't they?" or "no wonder you can't get a real job", or my favorite the scoff and eye-roll combo, if we don't know the answer to their question right away, or we take a second longer than they'd like to find them a product). The one positive thing though is that I've developed a thicker skin.
