Read The New Yorker article on Aaron Schwartz. Contrary to popular opinion, I came away thinking, "What a self-centered, arrogant dick."
Same here. I didn't read the article though but as sad an event as it was, I find his reason, whatever it was, inane. Can't believe he really thought he'd end up in prison for so many years. Only in very very rare situations would taking your life be more benefitial to a cause than living your life (and actually doing something). Seemed too cowardly and egotistical to me as I tend to admire people who stand and fight for what they believe in.

I found his approach extremely patronizing, even if he supposedly was so terrified to be anything but. For a guy who was painfully self-conscious of differentiating himself from others, he pretty much dismissed everything that wasn't "his way". Talk about a complete egotist.

In other news: @Nzoric: did you get to try the Salmonella Three Ways last month at Noma?
