Well, it's a big topic. Answer can be anything from go get a comp sci degree to grab the first online tutorial you can find and get cracking. As with anything it's not too hard to do it. It's hard to do it well.
Cool thanks. Maybe to learn the coding around Websites and web applications using Java or whatever else. Nothing too major, not looking to create games or operating systems . I guess I'll just open the book I have a start practicing when I have time. :)

This is a slightly pedantic remark, but unless you have some specific reason I wouldn't necessarily start with Java. I would pick Python or Ruby, which are languages that are more lightweight, takes less effort to do the same thing because the language does more for you. Especially in web apps they have a very strong position these days, lots of tools you can use and so on.
