A lot of bands would have copied them though and they were (I think, you probably know more about it than me) one of the bands to create that kind of sound that is so common today.

Point is, imo it's done to death and stale as fuck. The majority of metal bands don't even have proper riffs anymore, it's just chugging or extremely fast alternate picking with little melodies thrown in.
I don't think it's stale as fuck when it's done like Meshuggah do it :D. When you're listening to Meshuggah you don't listen to the riff you listen to the song as an entirety and it puts you in a trance :D

I know, but it's just so fucking boring when so many bands try to do the same thing. You think thrash all sounds the same...well I think all that kind of metal sounds much more homogenous. Same guitar tones, same compressed drums, same vocals, same low string triplets etc.


P.S. Loving 'The Chronomancer II: Nemesis' on Warp Riders :D
