Mainstream flashy party rappers were around back then too, more light lyrics and heavy on beats and style. Main difference is you could hear different types of rap on radio then you do now.

Funny thing is HNDRX shits on "FUTURE" album and he released them week from another (word on twitter is 3rd one is coming ), latter its way more wavy rnb type of gritty vibe, Trap lord but showing his range with this more experimental sound.


He has outdone himself COMPLETELY on HNDRX, showcasing new level of consistency:
