Best squad in the world today.
:disagree: They have an awesome midfield, but their CBs are nothing to shout about, and their attack is still reliant on grandpa Klose. They lack balance and big tournament temperament. They are far more entertaining than former German teams, but don't have that defensive steel and solidity, not to mention the ability to bore the opponent to death and then pounce, an ability that was so prevalent in past German squads.

Hummels, Matip and Boateng are great CBs

No they aren't. Hummels is so error prone and incredibly over-rated. He is a great passing CB, but if we compare him to German legends of the past, he is nothing special. Boateng is incredibly average, and Matip is still too young and raw.

Julian Draxler (Schalke), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Bayern), Mesut Özil (Arsenal), Thomas Müller (Bayern), Marco Reus (Dortmund), André Schürrle (Chelsea), Mario Götze (Bayern), S Bender (Dortmund), L Bender (Leverkusen), Sam (Leverkusen), Schweinsteiger (Bayern) Ilkay Gundogan (Dortmund)

:shocked2:
dem germans, so much awesomeness in that midfield. You could create 3 amazing midfield versions right there.

How do they even start btw?

Neuer
Lahm Mertesacker Hummels Jansen/Schmelzer
Schweinsteiger Bender
Müller Özil Reus
Gotze

One of the Benders due to Khedira's injury. Lahm could play as a CM too though and then Boateng will become RB.

Not without a real finisher. They won't get far with Gotze at the top.
Every player from middle and attack can easily score goals, they are all capable of such -- which makes the team even more scary since you have no idea where it will come from.

Italy is never to be underestimated. Unlike in the Euros (or past WC?) when they were shit and didn't qualify from groups, they have a stronger squad now. But in all honesty, there's absolutely no way they can beat this German side.

Spain 2012 played with 6 midfielders...
Are you comparing Germany with Spain? Spain with this same squad won in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

That's true. Except of course can Italy beat Germany.
