I've been planning this trip for 2 years. Then decided not to go. More important things to spend that money on.
What sucks it that this is probably the only chance i'll get to see a WC in my homecountry in my lifetime. Oh well...
Brazil, Spain, Germany and Argentina are favorites here. If i had to take a guess, Argentina should win it. Hope i'm wrong though.

When I went to the Juve-Everton match in SF earlier this month, I was surprised by all the fans who showed up in Italia jerseys. This despite Juve's starting lineup of Lichtsteiner, Isla, Vidal, Asamoah, Tevez, and Llorente. 
Better than the people who went in club jerseys of teams that weren't even there, there was a guy in a Milan shirt a couple rows in front of me. Also saw plenty of Barca, Madrid, Man Utd, Liverpool, etc. I guess neutrals just wanted to wear something football-related.
If it's an option you should go. There are more important things, maybe, but those things will not go away. This opportunity with the generation of players that you follow is not something too common that happens frequently. You might spend a lot but even if you do I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.
Well, it is but it isn't, you know... As i've said if i go i'd want to go to every single Brazil match then hotel for at least 2 weeks, for the whole family. This and that... Nah, man. With that money i could go to Torino at least 5 times a year. Do 3 Euro trips annually or whatever else my family wants.
Besides, i have a feeling the US will host a WC in the next 10-15 years, by then i'd be in a much more comfortable situation in every aspect, so...

A WC is more than just the games. It's the environment around the games. Highly recommended.
I wish I'd been older when the WC was here in 1994, I barely knew what football was then, being a five year old in the US. Only followed it a little bit with my family on TV, I remember crying like a baby when Baggio missed that penalty & I didn't even know who the fuck he was back then I just felt bad for him.
Might explain why I took a liking to the Azzurri later in life.

Applying for 2014 -- may not find out until October (and again in Dec/Jan).
(In 2010 I only knew about the potential of being there for the WC just several weeks before, as I had started at a new company that had an office in ZA.)
