    Vela

    What a story.

Start the whole WC squad with the coach they now have vs the one they no longer have.

Yep. I noticed the news. My Irish neighbor often goes off on the pointlessness of sectarianism, which he sees exemplified in current U.S. political divides.

    CONFIRMED!!!

8th june - 17:30 BR time - 22:30 Italy time - At Raulino de Oliveira stadium in Volta Redonda, Brazil (1:30 from Rio)

FLUMINENSE vs ITALY!!! Friendly preparatory for the World Cup.

Watch out for our fullbacks runs, specially Carlinhos on the left (if he isn't drunk on that day); to CM box to box Jean and his ala-Vidal runs; Conca our regista; Wagner AM and his letal lefty; Rafael Sobis amazing shooting skills and Walter (and his 102kg) with his intelligence, build-up play and finishing ability.

I see a draw in this game. :)

Reminder: Fluminense is also know as tricolore - and exactly same colours as Italy.

Edit: I'll be there!!! I'll make sure someone fucks Bonucci up, don't worry.

Not at all. 2010 was the worst ever and by a long shot. Robinho, Kaká, Grafite, Luis Fabiano, Nilmar, Michel Bastos, Juan, Luisão... That was pure $#@!.
    Yes

David Luiz is a joke of a defender only when he plays for Chelsea. He becomes an entirely new player on the yellow shirt. And his chemistry with Silva is unparalleled, they're on the same tune.

A good example is how Dante can be a better individual than he is but when paired with Silva becomes a huge liability.
and yes. David Luiz has played very well for Brazil. I agree the guy generally speaking is a liability, but he has huge personality when playing for the NT.

Now all in all, this is definitely a poor Brazil team, if compared to our history.

Taking into account the current NTs, I see Germany, Spain and Argentina far better in terms of talent.

And there were some important mistakes made by Scolari. Jo is a joke, this guy shouldn't be there. Also Fernandinho or Hernanes, one of them should be out. We should have more attacking options. We can suffer because of this.

I'd take Kaka + Coutinho/Lucas Moura to have more options in the bench.

Also they are putting too much trust on Fred. He's good, not WC, and can get injured any time. When he's on top of his form (which is rare), he is amazing at passing, with his intelligence to build play, and also his great heading, killer instinct, excellent positioning, great finishing with both legs.

But he is also very slow, horrible stamina, and due to his slowness he doesn't participate of games much.

I think Scolari missed on this one. He should have prepared the team to play with a free Neymar, playing Messi-like in Barcelona, roaming and running around, + 2 wingers - I'd pick Hulk and Bernard, and one AM - Oscar.

Fred should be an option to be used in game-to-game situations. And if he gets injured, Jo would be a disaster of a CF... he's shit. I'd never take Jo.

Leaving Filipe Luis and Miranda out, specially Miranda, to bring his boy Henrique is such an absurd... just disgusting. Henrique is pure lame.

In the end, this will be a very competitive team anyway. Far from being the most talented.

You will see that while the World Cup approaches, huge protests will start again. This WC may be a havoc. But this will probably fuel the team like at Copa das Confederações. Defense will be very tight and adjusted. Paulinho is underrated IMO and will be very important for grinta and nonstop running.

Also Neymar injured a lot, didn't have a great season, but in the end this was good for the NT. The kid arrived exhausted at Barcelona, his muscles needed rest. He was playing 70+ games per season till he arrived there. Now we may see him at his peak in the WC, having freedom to move around, which is what he needs to thrive.

I'd say a lot of things have to go right so Brazil can win it, among them a healthy Neymar at the top of his form. He's the only one who is talented enough to make a difference on this team. Ramires, Hernanes, Fernandinho, Bernard and William are solid options.

Germany is by far the most talented team. Then it comes Spain. But this WC will have so many good teams that anything can happen... Spain could perfectly not qualify to 2nd round. And Spain or Chile could very well take Brazil out in 16th-of-best round. It's going to be unprecictable. Argentina has a great chance, since this is the most important WC for them since the one they won, and they have one of the best players of history, and Di Maria and Aguero, 3 guys who are top 10 best players at the world now.

In the end I'd bet in Argentina or Brazil to win it. Right after them Germany, Spain, Italy.

fluminense my favourite Brazilian team, glad they escaped relegation last season thanks to a technicality
    Cool!

Yes we did. And we have nothing with it, as papers want to show. Fluminense is very comparable to Juventus - it's hated all around the country do to extra-pitch events, and it's very unfair IMO. But the media spreads it, people accept it only with superficial information, and go out spitting it like it's the absolute truth.

I disagree with most of your post but this part in particular screams for a big fuck no. We're not Spain/Barcelona and should never try to play like them. If that's the case and in fact came to happen, i'd just give up on Football altogether.

Also, Bernard as a starter in a World Cup? Shoot me already. I don't share neither agree with your concerns about Fred's situation. I personally don't know anyone who's "putting too much trust" in him but in Neymar instead. Fred's job is to make good out of whatever Neymar comes up with, no more no less.

Slow, horrible stamina, can get injured at anytime? Did you forget that 2002' Ronaldo?

The fact is that it doesn't matter who's the number 9, Fred or Jo or how not-so-great they are. It all falls down to how much will Neymar shine. If he's having a good day, whoever is up front will get their chance to score. I'm absolutely positive that's how it'll turn out.

How are they going to line up in midfield? I can't see any holding midfielder, or any other midfielder with any kind of tackling or defensive ability in that squad.
