I don't know why everyone is raving about that defense. The CB options, outside of Silva, look rather average. Dante is rather slow, and has been somewhat underwhelming this season (compared to last year at least), and David Luiz is a joke of a defender.

The team, overall, looks solid if unspectacular, but Germany (weak and vulnerable in defense) and Spain (the most complete squad) have stronger teams on paper.

David Luiz is a joke of a defender only when he plays for Chelsea. He becomes an entirely new player on the yellow shirt. And his chemistry with Silva is unparalleled, they're on the same tune.

A good example is how Dante can be a better individual than he is but when paired with Silva becomes a huge liability.

It's because Brazil's defense, by and large, has been pretty much rubbish most WCs.

Some people need to remember this is a world cup, not the champions league. That's a team that would compete for the club honors, and that makes it even more impressive considering how much the competition level drops in national team tournaments.

And I don't think Spain has a better team on paper necessarily. Their defense is horrible and their attack isn't better than Brazil's. Their midfield is still among the best in the world so they have that going for them and due to their style they'll be main contenders again but I wouldn't say their team is better on paper.

    And the list is out...

    Goleiros:

    Jefferson
    Julio César
    Victor

    Zagueiros:

    Dante
    David Luiz
    Henrique
    Thiago Silva

    Laterais:

    Daniel Alves
    Maicon
    Marcelo
    Maxwell

    Meio-campistas:

    Fernandinho
    Hernanes
    Luiz Gustavo
    Oscar
    Paulinho
    Ramires
    Willian

    Atacantes:

    Bernard
    Fred
    Hulk

    Neymar

No Miranda, no Filipe Luis, no Coutinho.
That is the worst Brazil side I've ever seen.
