Maybe, Gian. It sure is a tempting thought. Watching Brazil and this Spain in a world cup final.
Anyway, it's not the "hatred" for the Spaniards but the "hatred" for Holland(Not really hatred, more like harsh words) that surprise me here.
If you look realistically at this world cup from round 1 till the final whistle yesterday, you will realize that aside from the part of yesterday's match when the Dutch coach replaced De Jong with vdV, the Spanish weren't more impressive than the Dutch.
Let me remind you that Holland made the final with 6-0-0, that, before the final and the 3-rd place match, they scored 12 goals (Spain scored 7) and were only behind the Germans who scored 13 and that with the exception of the opening minutes against Brazil, they were always the better team.
Spain had the quality, but also the luck that follows the winners in such tournaments. An offside goal got them through Portugal, Cardozo missed a penalty etc. No complains there, it's part of the game, just like Casillas who saved the penalty is part of the team. But for the Dutch things went really smoothly. They were, imo, the better, or the smarter team, in yesterday's 90 minutes too and if Robben scored that chance and Holland won, there would have been a general agreement that the Dutch deserved to win the final. They weren't outplayed at all before the extra time. They were actually the more dangerous team. They neutralized Spain and only allowed them chances from set pieces.
