Pippo has been much better than DP imo, and although he hasnt played much, I think he's much more dangerous.

Let's put it this way, when they played the czechs I was much more worried about pippo than dp.

First of all, Del Piero didn't play against the Czechs.....

2nd of all, Inzaghi is one of the best when it comes into creating danger and finishing the ball, something which isn't Del Piero's job.

Inzaghi is much more better than Gila-Iaquinta and probably Toni.

no mattter who will be the starting11, I believe Lippi will win again. hes a real master. his ability of reading games is absolutly outstanding. 4 of 6 goals of Italy in this tournament scored by bench players. Could it be a record?

I meant I was more worried about pippo coming off the bench.

To the rest, I agree? :D

DP was great, and still pulls off some great things, but his great days are just over.

Australia then Ukraine.. :) Fantastic draw for Italy so far.

Italy shouldn't have any problems with this game. I think this would be the best formation considering the players performances so far:
Pippo Toni
Perrotta
Gattuso Pirlo Camoranesi
This would be insane...playing with this formation would see Lippi's men returning home on Friday night.

Putting Perrotta there??? atleast change his position with Camo...Not to forget that Perro can't dribble nor cross the ball, It's not his position, as simple as that.

I'm not anti DP and don't want to start an argument, the whole "hating dp" thing was a joke, he is one of my favorite players too :D

But just in the context of this game, he's getting past it, as all players eventually do. Look at Zidane, for example.

Perrotta was fantastic in that position in Roma in Tottis absence. Not to mention he does his work both in the offence and the defence, and with his fantastic talent to run into the box with Italys long ball system imo he should be the obvious choise.

I know you're not an anti Dp fan. You're too smart to be that:p.

Anyhow, I still believe in him as I've always done. The day he'll retire will make me stop believing, as long as he's an Azzurri player and Juve captain, there's no way I can stop believing in him.

Unfortunately Totti isn't absent nor Injured, so I think he can play in that position. Playing Perro there would be really risky move and unacceptable. Perrotta may have done well before in that position, but lets be realistic, this can't happen in the world cup. And leaving both Del Piero and Totti out, is like walking on one leg.

From what I saw today, 4-3-3 all the way:

Buffon
Zamby Nesta(Barzagli) Canna Grosso
Camo Pirlo Gattuso(Perrotta)
Pippo Toni Totti

that is an attacking lineup that will do some magic :agree:

To me he fits that position better than a defensive midfielder, and I have never seen him as good ever as when he played there. I'm pretty sure he would deliver more than spotti and el pimpo. Though those two are as you say neither injured nor abscent, so Lippi won't dare to try it anyways.

Zidane is older and he already did enough... Del Piero deserves his moment of glory. Figo, Raul and Beckham etc are all "past it" as well, but all had nice moments this WC... Del Piero should get it too :smoke: I mean just let him shoot a freekick once it'll go in :D Just one time !

Those even considering to bench Perrotta haven't been watching Italy's games.

Gattuso - Pirlo - Perrotta
Totti
Toni - Pippo

Don't change around much.
