what chances?
all they did was some shots far from the goal and thats because they werent able to penetrate the italian defensive wallthey had 2 chances in the first half because zaccardo and grosso advanced a lot and left space behind them.
after the goal they were at their positions and ghana was almost never dangerous
Exactly!!!!

we are not comparing.. we are talking about new italy (wc 2006) which seems fcked up so far not like what we did expect specially from Lippi who has said you gonna see another way in tatctics in WC !!
sorry but i dont understand you anymore. i say rino was missing thats why essien and appiah had more room, then you seem to agree with your "thats why"

but then you say as lippi tactics f-cked up, which is total bs, as you just sayd rino missing was the reason why essien and appiah had room. come on, italy did pretty well, its differant italy then trapa one, italy attacked, attacked a lot, look stats, a lot of corners, and even when italy scored, they still attacked in the second half, yes then there where times when ghana attacked more, but thats football, you cant control the opponent 90 minutes, italy showd to me a lot. i saw how players fight, not like in euro2004 when italy went in front against sweden and then hoped to hang on, but we now what happened then.

i saw potential and i saw nice football. if zambro and rino come back this team is even more stronger.

i cant understand the criticism on gilardino, he was lively and i think his a important player for italy, oh yeah, pippo this, pippo that, pippo would probably have made italy name dirty with his dives. i really like gilardino as a player, his not maybe one of the best finishers but he shows spirit and he fights.

in fact it was different because italy with trap and zoff and all the others was more defensive
they were playing like capello 4-4-1-1
in 2000 it was:
juliano-nesta-canna-maldini
zambrotta-conte-albertini-fiore
totti
pippo
there were 2 half defenders(conte-albertini)
totti was like ibrahimovic at juve with a full liberty to move right -left,getting up and down
now lippi plays a 4-4-2
with only one half defender pirlo and a player(totti) behind 2 real attackers(toni-gila)
more offensive,dont u agree?

Today when DP came on, gotta hear the crowd eh ;) showes that he's a country's lovable player
this is true and it was so loud and powerful that I wasn't sure they were cheering for Del Piero. When you see in the web so many haters of Alex, you just don't expect that. But then... when you think about it, same thing with the Azzurri match in Lecce. He is LOVEABLE... fuck haters (worst are assholes like pirri, tonisamp, deano, demandred, for those that are familiar).

nobody wants inzaghi to replace gila. we want Del Piero to replace him as seconda punta. :agree:

pippo hasnt even played much for italy, we dont know how would toni-pippo combination work, because as it seems to me, pippo is a player on whom you need to make assists, his a bit selfish himself, i think though he could make a good subst player who might score some vital goals, but for any other thing, he doesnt give enough support to others, he trys on his own.

pippo cant work out of the area
he can just replace toni
but the logic sustitute for gila is del piero,a player who can be a support for the other attacker

Sir Lippi read the game very well.. All subs were spot on @ the right time.

Hats to Lippi.

And for those who say the second goal was a mistake well what are goals then? Not all them you will see a Maradona-like run and extremely nice finish. Italy wasted easy chances and hit the corss bar. Gialrdino was way off. Bringing in Iaquinta rather than Del Piero was the best chioce. Italy needed a fast striker which Del Piero isn't. It was very aparent that it was a good sub. Immediately Iaquinta was knocked down (when it was offside) on a one on one situation, and the second one ended in a goal.

A good coach make use of other teams weakness.. Thats what Lippi did..

Forza Lippi.

I'm worried about Totti and Del Piero though. Totti was nowhere, absolutely nowhere and Del Piero seems to be playing with his nephews in his backyard. Ale, wake up, it's the World Cup FFS. Granted his mission was to defend the 1-0 lead and that does get rather easy if Iaquinta makes it 2-0 10 seconds afer DP has come on.

You're being harsh on Dp, he played less than 10min, and Everyone was defending Seven. Italy were not playing attacking Football when Ale was on. So you can't blame him for playing 7 or 8min.

wow, this coming from nowhere. Totti i thought played good not his best but good enough. he had a couple of good passes and great through balls, he had that one good free kick, he set up the pirlo goal, and he lead the italy attack. he was their at the start of their attack allow them to go and make runs, he was involved with most of the build to italy's chances. italy had about 6 semi-half break aways and 3 of them were set up by totti. your standards are way to high, not everyone is ronnie.

and when del came in the big loud croud cheered for him and what he has done for the azzurri. you always need a guy like del on your team because he is a skilled fan favoured player and it is a great look for italy.

Totti had good passes (and that freekick...) but I also agree that he generally sucked. There was just something sucky about him in this game. If he would have run with the ball more or something.... it's not a very good performance, regardless of the nice passes he made (which Pirlo made nicer).

I think you really have something personal against Italy because in my opinion this match was one of the best played by Italy so far. (very similar to the one played against Holand). Leave your personal feelings and start being more objective please! ;)

(I wonder which team do you support)
