Forza Azzurri,of course!!!I'm with my Italian team all the way!!!!

I'm really worried about that Zambrotta news!It seems that the WC will be without the best left back in the world,at the moment.

I believe that Lippi knows how to do the job,and I hope that Nesta will be fully recovered from his injury.

Very important match for Italy, and a great need to grab our first 3 points from the game.

yeah i know but still, i guess nesta will be there for the first game, but not fully fit.

anyway is it too early to talk about formations and lineups. I think de rossi should defenetly start but i cant decide who should be left to bench gattuso or pirlo. pirlo is in very poor form recently and his slow, but gattuso again can cause some bad troubles with his rough play, and pirlo atleast has the quality to give great passes to the strikers while rino just muscles around and doesnt score or do much useful to get goals. atleast yesterday pirlo freekick was on target. though so was tottis one.

i wonder who will take freekicks. i think lippi will probably go with rino-pirlo partnership still, after all they have the expierence to play together. but i think de rossi is so much improved and deservs more to play. anyway the zambro news is a very big setback, i cant understand how some azzurri fans take it like its nothing serious, a la we have grosso and oddo. but either didnt impress me, ok they are solid but as it seems to me, zambro gives just so much more. his stronger and his doing much better going forward to support strikers if needed. grosso didnt go forward more then once.

lippi why didnt you call balzaretti :D?

how good is bonera?

Bonera is quite good considering his natural position as RB...Lippi tried him as LB instead of Grosso, against Switzerland.
He played some great games for the Azzuri U21,and that was the first time I saw him in action for the NT.
He knows to be very sharp and nimble in his tackles, which is his minus.

Appiah,Muntari and Essien are Ghana's engine IMO and can really do us damage on one of our common WC off-days - 4 some reason, I just aint feelin that optimistic anymore.... Maybe it's the Zambro issue. We'll just have 2 wait and see if he'll still be available

I think Appiah is their main key, I watched couple of matches recently for ghana and he's the real engine, though that doesn't mean that they should Leave Essien free, he's on the other hand very good player.

I still think Italy will clinch it 2 nil.

I last watched Ghana play in this years AFCON tourney against my country (Zim) and we beat them 2-1. We were really all over them but the thing is they were missing Essien, Muntari and Kouffour in that game so I was a bit scpetical bout the result. I just dont have a good feeling about this to be honest guyz - Totti, Pirlo and Nesta are struggling for form and Zambro might not even participate. Everything is very ill-timed....

all the teams in our group (and many other top teams) have recorded some nice wins in the pre-WC friendlies

I think we may have needed 1 confidence-boosting win before the WC...it wouldnt have hurt

Marcello Lippi has hinted that Daniele Bonera could replace the injured Gianluca Zambrotta in the World Cup.

With the Juventus full-back out of action for possibly the first two games due to a thigh strain, Lippi has tested out Massimo Oddo and Cristian Zaccardo at right-back and Fabio Grosso on the left, without a great deal of success.

“Bonera will also be at the Coverciano training ground on Monday, seeing as Zambrotta’s condition isn’t good. We’ll know more after Tuesday’s tests and will make a decision by June 11.”

The Azzurri open their campaign against Ghana on June 12. Their other Group E opponents are USA and the Czech Republic.

It’s an important decision, as Parma defender Bonera is not in the official World Cup squad, so if he were to be included, it would mean the end of Zambrotta’s tournament.

Bonera would be a valuable alternative at the back, as he can play in central defence, right or left positions.

Zambrotta isn’t Lippi’s only concern, as Alessandro Nesta limped off during the 0-0 draw with Ukraine suffering from a recurring thigh problem.

“He had a twinge in the same muscle that gave him trouble last week and I hope he’ll be back in shape soon. After the tournament kicks off, there’ll be a game every five days, so it’s not easy to recover.”

The performances against Switzerland and Ukraine this week disappointed the media in Italy, but Lippi maintains it was important to extend their 18-match unbeaten run.

“I like to underline how much these lads don’t want to lose. When you’re not 100 per cent fit, it’s possible you’ll struggle, as we did in the second half. This is when you bring out your character, which I’m glad to say this side has in abundance.”

There are question marks over several of the players, although the Coach continued to defend them against criticism.

“I liked the way Alessandro Del Piero played, and we all know Francesco Totti is improving with each passing day. With Massimo Oddo at right-back we were able to get more crosses in than against Switzerland, which is helpful when you’ve got Luca Toni and Alberto Gilardino upfront.”

The high point of the evening appeared to be the improved form of Andrea Pirlo, who has been struggling badly for several months at Milan and international level.

“Pirlo was better, yes, but I liked all the lads. We couldn’t score hatfuls of goals against opponents who will also be taking part in the World Cup. It’s a gradual process at this stage, as it would be a mistake to be at our peak on June 12. If we want to go all the way to the Final, the squad has to hit its best form halfway through the competition.”

oh not bonera, hes bloody shite

Still, It was somehow positive to draw.

1-Italian team will get to know their negative things in their team before the WC.
2-They'll get into the games focusing much more than the opposition. I'm pretty sure of it.
3-Mistakes that were done in these two friendlies, will probably not happen in the 1st round.

So If you look at it, It wasn't that bad to draw before the world cup.

Forza Italia.
