Not really. The Bosman case illustrated players had the right to go to another club if their contract ended. Iaquinta wanted to do the same and was benched in return. And in the end, after loads of pressure from Udinese, he even signed a contract with them. Perhaps Iaquinta could have shown some better composure, but Udinese are just as much at fault.
correcto. But I'll take it one step further and say that Udinese are the main culprit.

As far as I remember, IAquinta did prefer a Jan Transfer but didn't demand it, the only thing he insisted on was NOT to SIGN A NEW CONTRACT, which he did in the end thanks to Udinese's pressure.

What the hell is a player supposed to do in that circumstance?

Lippi hails Iaquinta swoop Friday 22 June, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcello Lippi has praised Juventus for securing the signature of Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta. “They couldn’t have done better,” he declared.

The Serie B champions completed their expected swoop for the World Cup winner earlier this week after the 27-year-old signed a five-year contract.

“Iaquinta is a great guy and a complete forward,” said Lippi, who Juventus unsuccessfully approached to replace Didier Deschamps recently, in an interview to Sky Italia.

“He is almost 190cm tall, very fast, one of the quickest strikers in Italy, therefore he attacks space as only few players can do and he is also very good in the air.

“I really don’t think Juventus could have found anyone better than him.”

Lippi knows Iaquinta, who cost the Old Lady £8m, well from their time together with the Nazionale.

The former Atalanta and Napoli boss was also questioned on Fabio Capello’s rather odd situation at Real Madrid.

Despite leading the Merengues to their first Liga title in four years, the Italian maestro is on the verge of being sacked.

“I have spoken to him and I have to admit that he isn’t very happy,” explained the Viareggino. “This is not his choice, it is a decision taken by others.”

Well Lippi has praised Iaquinta, hopefully Iaquinta will have a good time in Juventus and bang in lots of goals for us. I wish to see Iaquinta makes use of his strength like how he took advantage of Kuffour's mistake and scored the goal in the world Cup.

Italy striker Di Michele charged in illegal betting probe

ROME, June 26 (Reuters) - Italy striker David Di Michele was one of four players charged with illegal betting by the chief prosecutor of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Palermo striker, who has made six appearances for the Azzurri, was accused of betting "directly or through third parties, on the results of official matches organised by the FIGC", according to a statement on the federation's Web site (www.figc.it).

Defender Thomas Manfredini, who plays for Serie A club Atalanta, and striker Massimo Margiotta, who plays for Vicenza in Italy's second division Serie B, were charged with breaking the same regulation.

The fourth player, midfielder Vincenzo Sommese, who plays for Serie B side Mantova, was charged with betting on matches organised by FIFA, UEFA or the FIGC.

Vicenza, Mantova and Di Michele's former club Udinese were also charged with involvement in the scandal.

Italian players have been prohibited from betting on any football matches -- in their own leagues or in foreign leagues -- since 2005.

Any player found guilty of breaching the ban faces a suspension of between three months and three years.

The FIGC statement also announced that a further 15 players had been cleared of wrongdoing, including Italy and Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta and AC Milan defender Marek Jankulovski.

Translation:
The new attacker for juventus has spoken for the official 'Hurra Juventus' mag. 'To be a part of this fantastic society brings me great satisfaction. I am aware that for Juventus to reach the top it will be very difficult with the pressure increased. But to me i like the challenge and cannot wait to begin. I know little of the atmosphere and have only really spoken to Pessotto when i came for the medical visits i can sense great enthusiam. To see this team in Serie B has been strange for me and for everybody alike, so now i really want to do well!''

For once, I am rather sceptical about Lippi's enthusiasm. It's no secret that he made extensive use of Iaquinta in the World Cup (even employing him on the wing on occasion) but I've always had my reservations regarding Vincenzo, tall he may be but IMO he lacks that killer instinct and penetrative driving force that I rate highly in forwards.

Of course, I hope he (and Lippi) prove me wrong in the seasons to come.
