Well, time will tell if he can fullfill his potential, but I am glad we didn't take the bet of signing him.

man many people in this forum have been bombarding him bout how overrated he is. Watch as a jinx takes effect and he ends up scoring against us in every game for Fiorentina...

Fiorentina Set To Land Vanden Borre

Anderlecht defender Anthony Vanden Borre has agreed to join Fiorentina, according to his agent.

The Belgian international’s contract expires in 2010 but he has a clause in his deal that allows him to leave in advance.

"There is an agreement between the player and the Viola," agent Antonio Stinà told Radio Fiesole. "There is also one between the two clubs.

"As a result, Vanden Borre isn’t being used by the Belgian side currently because Anderlecht are trying out a few things without him in view of the future.

"When will he sign a contract with Fiorentina? Possibly even before June."

The 19-year-old could move for around £2.1 million.

He has been linked with the likes of Tottenham and Inter.

Viola sign Vanden Borre Sunday 3 June, 2007

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fiorentina have signed 20-year-old Anderlecht defender Anthony Vanden Borre, confirmed the club.

The Viola released a statement this afternoon announcing the arrival of the versatile young player who has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Vanden Borre was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but is a Belgian international who made his senior debut in a friendly against Turkey in April 2004.

Able to play at right-back or in central defence, he had been linked with a series of top clubs including Bayern Munich, Inter, Barcelona, Juventus and Tottenham.

Fiorentina are bolstering their squad with young talent after picking up Arturo Lupoli from Derby County along with Czech teenagers Ondrej Mazuch and Jan Hable.

They are also expected to finalise a transfer for Chievo winger Franco Semioli next week.
