Not only a Congress member, but also a Federal Judge along with several other people. It happened at a town hall sort of "meet your Congressman" event, located a grocery store. One 9-month old child was killed.

It is rumored that the shooter is 22 year-old Jared Loughner. Looking at some of his YouTube videos, those he made and those he "likes", it's quite clear this guy is psychotic.

So this was politically motivated? Seems odd then that the suspect would turn this into a spree and shoot random bystanders too.

We have literal mental cases armed with guns in this country. That much has been true for at least 25 years. They're likely going to find this less politically motivated than some deranged head-case.

But the specter of "cultural agitation" will clearly be there, raising concerns and suspicions as when nut jobs go after abortion docs.
