There's an old saying that goes "Don't let your mouth write a check that your ass can't cash."

If someone is going to type something here and get questioned about it, and asked to bring some fact or educated opinion into the discussion, and they refuse to do so, then they can expect some backlash.

The beauty of the forum is that you have sufficient enough time, in fact, all the time you want, to be able to put your emotions in check, if needed, and read your post and edit it however you like before you hit that reply button. I know for a fact that a couple people here that I had PM'd during the last month or so felt the same way about the pissing matches that were, and unfortunately, are still going on in a lot of these forums. If you want to take the responsibility, as an adult, to post on a very public forum, then accept the responsibility of whatever backlash you may receive as a result of your actions.
This is what I'm talking about. Finally Serge comes along and articulates the situation. The problem here is that we all see it from our own point of view. And personally I've had trouble seeing it from opposite sides in this issue because I don't have a problem with lilianna and I never did.

What happens is that lilianna says a few things that apparently provoke people and then she gets some reactions she didn't expect. Now you could say that she is a minority and people are ganging up on her but that isn't the whole truth because she is not new here, she knows the forum and she knows the people and she should know what to expect from them.

I could see it from her perspective only and reprimand everyone who says a bad word against her but that wouldn't make any sense. Why? Because this is a community with many participants and it's not fair to choose one person above all the others. Nick, Fli and Kaiser have not gone far enough to deserve a ban, they do exchange words with lilianna but it goes both ways and it's not true that they come to her with no provocation. The fact that she is alone and the opposition is numbered doesn't make any difference because it's not an ambush, it's a two way conflict.

The people who have taken the stand are doing the right thing because they're trying to find a solution to a perceived problem. The point is that the problem is more complex than you see it, at least that's what I think.

He who is without sin cast the first stone, I mean I have been provoked and engaged in heated debate, not here but in other forums. And sometimes over things that were said in haste and without much thought being put into it. People should not be provoked that easily but they do, I think we all do, it's just a matter of pushing our buttons. And thus it has to go both ways, we have to restrain ourselves but we also have to watch what we say and not try to provoke people deliberately or even inadvertently. Preaching that we should ignore the people we don't like only goes so far because after all this is a forum and this is the exact place where people come to debate and sometimes debate ferociously.
