Not totally true of Henry, I think. That Arsenal is built around him is more out of necessity given their resources than out of his ego or style. Note too that he currently partners players like Bergkamp, van Persie and Reyes, none of whom is exactly a goal hatcher like Trezeguet.

Rivaldo was the centre-piece for Barca for years, and it hurt the team more than it helped. Having two players like that is the better option.

Arsenal's system, with all those floating forwards and no striker, practically begs for a midfielder to barge through and get on the end of things. Often that was Vieira, though most people don't think of him in that kind of role. Don't know how well they'd work together in Juve's system, but good players like them tend to figure something out.

Arsenal captain Thierry Henry will not consider new contract talks until after the end of this season.

The superstar striker, 28, has two years left on his contract but boss Arsene Wenger hoped he would put pen to paper before the New Year.

But French ace Henry, who is out with a groin injury, insisted: "We will talk about it at the end of the season.

"I will speak to the boss and ask him about things but my mind isn't on that at the moment.

"I made myself clear at the start of the season. I said I wanted to concentrate on football, help my team and focus on winning trophies rather than worry about contracts.

"Obviously, I will sit down with the boss and the board and sort it out."

It seems clear Henry, who is linked with a move to Barcelona next summer, wants to see how far Arsenal get in this season's Champions League and if they strengthen the squad during January's transfer window.

I'm confident that if we were to get Henry we would play him out wide on the left. Not as a pure winger, but he'd be doing more or less what he's doing now but he'd start off a little wider. Same if Cassano joins us.

One that consider Henry one of the top 3 forwards in the world, and one other that believes him to be a great player, not the best player. I’m in the second group.

If you look at his history you’ll se he scores tons of goals against less competitive teams and almost never scores in tight games against world class resistance.
This is one reason why Arsenal never made it in the CL.

When the paste is low and/or the defense is tight and reduces surface he just disappears in the games. In Serie A that is almost ever a fact.
He was not successful before and wouldn’t be it today either.

A lot of people have said that, but they rarely attempt to put numbers on it. I'm certain he scores against big teams and in big games. I've never had a good memory for that kind of thing.

This is one reason why Arsenal never made it in the CL.

I think Arsenal's performances in the CL are part of the reason for Henry's poor reputation for some. I think their team tactics are exposed in Europe, and their defending is frankly inadequite. Henry is often left hopefully running for balls that won't arrive.

When the paste {pace?} is low and/or the defense is tight and reduces surface he just disappears in the games. In Serie A that is almost ever a fact.
He was not successful before and wouldn’t be it today either.

There was an interesting thread before that delved into the detail of Henry's stay at Juve. Again, detail's the killer, but I seem to recall leaving that one satisfied that he hadn't been given sufficient chance in his natural position to be written off. Six months at age 19(?) mean very little.

Their defense is very good on paper, but they play way to offensively. That gives Henry even more chances.

In 95% of the cases its Malta or something.

The thing is, Barca already have Deco as well.. If they needed someone instead of Ronnie.. He's an amazing player, too..

Substantially deeper though and his first instinct, at least in what I've seen of the guy, is to pass, not dribble or shoot.

I agree that you'd want a hell of a DM to consider playing E'too, Ronaldinho, Henry, Deco and Guily in the same team, but is it substantially more reckless than, say, playing Cole, Giggs, Yorke, Beckham and Scholes ahead of just Keane?

Sure, you'd need to make sure those guys really know they have to work hard and sit a bit deeper in the CL, but in a league, that kind of firepower tends to paper over the cracks.

Yeah, but the thing is, they'd have to sacrifice one of those players in order to fit Henry into the team.. Or consider playing with three defenders, but I doubt they want to do that..

Obviously his brief stint at Juve means very little, but his style is something that doesn't suit Serie A very well.

He lacks upper body strength and he will have to get used to having disciplined defenders breathing down his neck for 90mins.

The biggest problem he'll have to overcome is having to adapt to teams that aren't built around him and having to play with players of the same or even higher calibre than he is.It's no coincidence that Zidane and he always seem to play better when the other isn't around in the NT.
