We were hunting Vieira many years,
we werent really interested on Henry,
Vieira was our primary target,
we had a bad need for this position,
the time was right,he said he will leave Arsenal,we were one of the best options around,
we dodnt sign back easy ex-players,
we have plenty of attackers at the moment,
its obvius that Henry cant offer us what Vieira can,(Vieira can adapt his play in the defensive play we have)
thats a totaly dif situation

i still have hope in Cassano coming...even if he is useless in terms of formation support :D i just want to see him in Juve shirt desperatly:sigh:

Wouldnt surprise me if Paddy puts a word in Henrys ear to come back to Juve. Vieira said he'll never go back to Italy then look what happened. I hear Real are ready to pounce, but if thierry's clever he'll know what the right choice would be.

Cassano snubs Roma extension? Monday 10 October, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Antonio Cassano has rejected Roma’s offer of a new two-year deal, according to reports in the Italian capital this evening.

Stories in the peninsula on Monday night claim that the starlet has snubbed the club’s offer of an extension.

Roma are believed to have tabled a two-year deal, worth £2.5m a season, for the youngster to add his signature to.

However, Cassano has allegedly rejected the proposal as he is looking for a five-year agreement instead.

Talks are now set to continue given the problematic state of affairs regarding the player’s current contractual status.

The 23-year-old is only tied to the outfit until June 2006, meaning that he could leave on a free transfer in the summer if he doesn’t agree terms with the Stadio Olimpico outfit.

Cassano was heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the summer, but remained after no transfer was finalised.

The former Bari starlet is also understood to be a target for both Milan and Internazionale.

There is the possibility that Cassano could be frozen out of the Roma squad if he doesn’t come to some sort of agreement.

That would obviously affect his chances of making the World Cup squad, which would be a massive blow according to Paolo Rossi.

"Out of Alex Del Piero and Cassano, I would undoubtedly take the latter to Germany," the 1982 World Cup hero stated. "However, he may encounter some difficulties in getting picked if he can’t resolve his contract situation."

Meanwhile, Roma will return to training on Tuesday ahead of Sunday’s trip to little Empoli.

First of all we'd have to offload at least two other strikers before there's even a remote chance of him coming;and one of them would probably have to be Ibra.

Now this has to do with the Henry Thread:

Gunners Set To Make Henry Record Offer
10/11/2005 3:11:00 PM
Arsenal are prepared to make Thierry Henry the highest paid player in the club's history in a bid to ensure he remains a Gunner.

Club chairman Peter Hill-Wood said that Arsenal are considering offering the prolific 28-year-old France striker a new four-year deal worth as much as £100,000 a week.

Hill-Wood told The Evening Standard: "We've not talked about the offer yet.

"But it is fair to say he would become the highest paid player in Arsenal's history - and deservedly so."

Henry has made it clear he does not want to enter into discussions over his future until the end of the season, when his current contract will have just 12 months left to run.

His decision has raised speculation that he c$ould quit the club for a move abroad, with Spanish giants Barcelona or Real Madrid touted as favourites to capture his signature if he does leave North London.

Barcelona have persistently been linked with a move to take Henry to Camp Nou. And the striker – two goals short of becoming Arsenal's all-time leading goalscorer - could leave the Gunners for a fraction of his market value if his contract has nearly expired.

However, the Premiership giants are desperate to retain the services of one he world's most coveted forwards.

"We would also have liked to talk before the end of the season but it is Thierry's right to leave it until then," added Hill-Wood. " But we want him to stay and he knows that."

Henry's predecessor as club captain, and France team-mate, the midfielder Patrick Vieira, was reportedly paid £82,000 a week before he left Highbury to join Juventus in the summer.

Henry is believed to be on a salary in the region of £75,000 at present.

Hold up! Im sure Henry stated time & time again that it never had anything to do with money. The guy wants to win major honours, And he wont with this current Arsenal squad. He'll be tempted to look else where.:D

But what about to combine both money and a squad able to win titles(like Barca,Real,Chelsea),
a team using attacking football and take the maximum Henry may give,a team having a play similar to English-Arsenal like
and a team who will pay what we didnt payed for Gila,
a team who has as a transfer priority attackers,
Juve doesnt fit at all to then team wich could get henry,
besides when it was the last time we bought back a former player?
This could be prooved a managerial mistake
and our company doesnt do such...

The Cassano post has smth do,
it remind us our current target.

sorry to tell u the truth but the Henry discusison is pointless...

It´s not about money, it´s about being on a team that is not gonna win anything. As far as i remember his bitterness began right afetr vieira left. He was angry at the management and said that it was a negative surprise, specially after they said he wouldn´t be sold. It´s not fantasy to think he would like to reunite with his old pal again. But still, we don´t need him, unless we sell a little, but who?

The thing is that Henry is a footballer to good to play in Arsenal.
He knows he won’t win the big titles in that club and is very concern about changing club.
And Arsenal doesn’t want to loose him as a Bosman case, witch they will if they don’t sell him this year.
And for Henry there are only about 6 clubs he could go to. Juve is one of them.

According to TribalFootball juve want to get Henry in exchange with dp , this is BS.
Actually If we really want him I guess it is pretty possible that this offer will send DP the other way ofcouse we would have to add some cash with him but it is possible

First of all, I don't think Capello would use the trident given his stubbornness, having five great fowards at his disposal has given him ample opportunities to make use of the 4-3-3 but the man loves his 4-4-2.

Second of all, if we DO play the trident then there'd be no need to offload two forwards.

I hope Henry stays in Arsenal, what are we going to do with Henry? We have all the forwads we need. There is no way we will buy him, it doesnt make sense.
