I was thinking more long term, I agree with you January a cb is a must but that will be a stop gap as most winter signing goes. Planning ahead for next season onwards a quality winger on the opposite side will take us to another level cutting down on constant switching and risking counters and because of that also giving our midfielders more space to work with.
Massive point especially how we came back. I know we aren't firing on all cylinders but we have learnt this team doesn't really give up which is a great sign moving forward. Realistically challenging for the scudetto this year is great but it's important that we build for a real tilt next year. We are finding an identity again, that is crucial.
Hate his tactics, his experiments, his choice of line ups but we definitely did not have this fight in us for the last 3 seasons. This mentality change is100% on Motta.

With many of your top players missing? Put Bremer and Koop and a couple of those draws would be converted to wins. We wouldn't even be having this conversation in the first place.
This is the second time in the space of a month where we have come back to secure a result against all odds. Another 10 mins and we would've surely won yesterday too. This mentality was non-existent for the last 3 years. I see this as a huge plus.

The real problem of Motta is that from a Wuxing (feng shui is based on it) perspective, there's mutual overcoming between him and Brazilian players. Bremer season-ending injury, Danilo washed up, D Luiz underperforming, Arthur non-existent. This sort of destructive interaction, a reverse cycle, is connected metaphysically based on cosmic analogy. But as the cycle can be analyzed going reversed, so it can be going forward, in which elements involved generating and promoting each other. Giuntoli should learn this and act accordingly. The first thing he can do is sell Danilo and Arthur in winter and stop bringing in Brazilians.

On a more serious note, there sure is a fresh wave of enthusiasm around the club with all the new signings and youngsters coming up the ranks, Motta has been doing a decent job overall especially in terms of team attitude and the way we press upfront, but if we do actually want to make this season a memorable one we will need him to do a proper great job in connecting all the dots with what he has available, without all the loose ends that we’ve been struggling with lately.

If he’s successful and Jj is a winning team, then undoubtedly a lot of our players will be successful too and we’ll look back at this team and say in hindsight “but he had that and that and that” just like we do with Conte’s Juventus now. We scored 4 goals in open play against Inter at Sansiro while having many key players injured and being 2 goals behind. If only our stupid defenders stopped giving away cheap penalties, 4 goals would have been enough to defeat Inter or any other team in the world.
