we should all start talking about goalkeepers
and who better to talk about then our keeper Buffon
the best in the present days

but will he be a legend? where even in the future people will still be talking about him

like the likes of Dino Zoff, Peter Schmeichel, Chilavert or even Toldo(i'll never forget the semifinals of Euro2000 against holland with the penalty feats of his)

who's going to replace Buffon if he's injured before the WC?
Abbiati? Pellizoli? De Sanctis?
is Zotti going to travel to Germany?

who's the future for Italy? Curci of Roma is a wonderkid of Italy or what?
Petr Cech and Iker Casillas.......are they better than Buffon?

discuss gentlemen

Shay Given, I always find massively underrated, and Anti Niemi, Dean Kiely etc. Easily as good as Buffon but a fraction of the price.

Why I still think that Buffon is the best?

Simply because of his reactions, his aerial abilities and especially that there is no keeper like him that can play with his feet the way he does. Buffon's power lies here, he can shoot and pass with both feet at equal efficiency and accuracy.

cech huh? i think he's the best in this 2 prior seasons
    yeah!!!
his clean sheets are something to marvel at
how about casillas? he's perfect last time but his defense is really disappointing

and IMO the underated keeper would have to be Sebastian Frey

    No, seriously, who?
Watch them play, they are more consistent than Buffon and all capable of top drawer reflex saves. Just because they aren't playing in the Cl final or getting paid £100k a week doesn't make them inferior. You should judge them purely on ability

its not easy to judge keepers like that dude. no offense
but buffon is saving shots from kaka, sheva, adriano etc.
if buffon is saving ibra's shot then i'll expect him to be the most stable keeper ever

well, those keepers are all premiership ones, so "are saving shots from" henry, crespo, rooney, van nistelrooy etc

Buffon has been in top form ever since he started when he was a teenager. I remember Parma's game against Dormund when we saved to PKs.. He was 19 if I am not mistaken.
Buffon is simply the best there is in football today. The only reason why he wasn't the best during his early years with Parma is because Peruzzi was in top form.
I think Buffon is very close to being a legend... He will deffinately be one if not one already.

Cech is a good goalkeeper but if I had to chose between both of them I wouldn't put too much thought in it.. Buffon it is.
