you might be right about Cassano if it wasn't for Del Neri and Marotta being here
they know him and know how to get the best out of him
he won't fail at Juve
I'm absolutely sure about that
What do they have to do with it? Completely different atmosphere, completely different expectations & completely difference in press coverage.
Sampdoria do well because they work as a cohesive unit & have gelled, whereas our team is still finding its feet.Individual mistakes & not defending as a team costs us big time.I really don't see Cassano handling the pressure if the team isn't playing well as a whole. He has a tendency to drop his head & become lazy if the team is down. The opposite can be said when the team is in unison.
Plus playing for the most famous & hated club in Italy will certainly put huge pressure on his shoulders coupled with excessive media coverage hovering over him.I'm not entirely convinced he can handle all of that.
You think Benzema is a potential to become a great striker? He's way passed that stage IMO. He's only minus in his resume is the move to Real which was a wrong career choice, nothing else. The guy scored 50 goals in his 2 last seasons in Lyon, not just in Ligue but in CL against much stronger teams. And the guy is not even 23 yet..
Cassano is great but will always be an enigma. Sampdoria should be his choice for life. He may have settled down, but I don't think he could handle the pressure here. Just imagine if it was him in Diego's place last year...he would have refused training by mid-season and requested a transfer. In Sampdoria he can basically do no wrong. Del Neri and Marrota are here true, but this is Juventus, that was Sampdoria...there's no excuses here.
Don't get me wrong, I'm pro-Cassano overall, he's worth the gamble, but if the choice is between Benz or him....for me it's a no-brainer.
Couldn't have said it any better.
Do you remember the 1-1 draw with Lyon/Manure? Benzema raped the defensive duo of Ferdinand & Vidic when they were still in their prime. They were all over him like a cheap suit & yet he managed to score an absolute beauty.
Some circumstances also play part in one's decision. Looking purely at our options at prima and seconda punta, we have:
1. Antonio Cassano - Kun Aguero
- The latter is very hard to get. Not gonna leave for less than 40m eur and we will certainly get opposition from big teams. If we don't get Cassano, we will most probably miss out on Kun too and we'll be left with....37 year old Del Piero.
2. Karim Benzema, Edin Dzeko, Giampaolo Pazzini
- Pazzini is mentioned as someone who scores a lot when he plays together with Cassano. If we miss out on Benzema we will still be one of the strong favorites to sign Dzeko. All the happenings from this summer, our relationship with Wolfsburg etc, leave us good chances to sign Dzeko.
In short, not buying Cassano will almost surely leave us weak in SS. Not buying Benzema still leaves us options at the target man position.
Of course, there are many potential cons in buying Cassano. Very complicated matter which will in the end be decided by some details and the preferences of our directors.
In any case, I will be happy if we buy Cassano or Benzema. Both are huge improvement over what we have.
I'd be happy if we got either one too, but if it boiled down to choosing one, Benzema would be my first choice. If Cassano were to join us, i'd love for him to prove me wrong & work his magic here.
I just hope with all those names listed above, the one player is really, really don't want in this team is Pazzini.
