Who sandwich boy? I am curious to see you list names :p
Considering we'll have a good Chiellini - Bonucci partnership we need one older player who has experience and who can add something. I'd go after some cheaper solution that can do good, like Marquez. There's no point in signing some great CB now. And he could also play in the middle if necessary.

IMO Chiellni, Bonucci, Marquez, Legro would be fine for this season. It doesn't have to be Marquez, it's just an example.

I'd rather save money on that position and invest to bring a very good left back because it'd improve us much more.

A young support striker is a must to complement Trezeguet if Delneri is going to be stubborn and stick to his 4-4-2.

I say sell Diego. He's of no use in the 4-4-2.
I see your point.

But tell me, if you think Del Neri is average...and he is...should we really do everything so it would suit his cause, knowing that he'll be gone next year? Hell, maybe even earlier.

Point is, if we sell Diego we'll lack brain up front, yet again. Without him we look clueless like we did before we signed him. Nothing changed since.

i prefer to give diego another year....IMO its not fair to sell him
Why keep a player that is going to be played out of position for the whole season? He can still bring us good money now, after another unimpressive season he will be worth peanuts.

He isn't on the class of Platini or Zidane to build the team around him, and he NEEDS a team to be built around him to look good. He flopped at Porto, was only good at Bremen when the team suited his needs, there was no pressure, and most importantly he had a lot of space... Italy's game is so tight he can't handle it.

I just replied that in my post above (it was before I read yours). But I will add another thing: I prefer that we purchase Ramires. He's a very impressive player, and a winger so he will suit the team. Much better and younger than Krasic as well. Ramires/Camo/Martinez/Pepe for next season is not so bad in my opinion.

Once again - I do see your point.

Yet again, we shouldn't do everything in our power to give Del Neri players for 4-4-2. Well screw any coaches that's not capable of a change. And why do that if he'll leave after one season? Whoever comes next (hopefully with some brain) will NOT use 4-4-2 and changes will be needed again - we'll be after new Diego's. We're not doing anything with that.

Diego had a bad season, but he was still among better players here.
