A whole lot better once it develops. I didn't like the second season initially either, give it time, I liked season 2 a lot from the halfway point onwards.

Finished the entire thing last month and can confirm it's the best thing on TV.

Yeah, it took me a couple of episodes to get into season 2 as well. It's all the new characters, the fact that the story isn't building on season 1 much yet, even the new theme over the opening credits is a little disorientating. Give it a few more episodes, and I think you'll get over that.

Oh, but story with the drugs of Baltimore still continues?
Yes it does, me and my brother was shocked by the change of seasons 2's opening too. It felt like The Wire as we knew it was cancelled, and they re-did another series with another focus with the same name, focusing on another part of town and life there. But as I said when you asked about the opening of season 1, its the same here, starts out slow to introduce it all, in this season, with whole another dynamics to the huge web that is the Baltimore society.

The creator likes to explore themes and facets of the different parts of the town and its hierarchy, and how they all connect (in different layers). Season 2 depicts that in quite different way (very very interesting way). But yes it will go back to showing the well known stuff of previous season too a bit (its all connected).

It was bit of a change to what we are used to, but I find season two's opening to be quite nice and fresh still, even if slow, dont wanna spoil, but its like more a way more real GTA IV but poles instead of russians. Blue collar crime.

As the guys say, it's in the background for season 2. It pushes closer to the surface again in later seasons though.

Cheers.

Yeah well I wasn't as much disappointed with the story at the begging as much as I was with the new environment :p I'm going to watch third, forth and fifth episode later tonight. Does every season plays in some other area of the town?

Btw, a couple of times already I heard 4th season is the shit. Is it that good? :D

Yes, not to be a cliche, but its easily my favourite, closely followed by season 1 (its the first, the wow effect is stronger).

And I dont want to spoil, but you asked if every season is about a different part town, no it isnt, basically every season has a theme of focusing on a different part of society (how he does it is very interesting in chancing focus, for example a character who had a very small role in earlier seasons, can suddenly be a main focus). With the drugs and the police still being quite part of it, underscoring or following it all the time.

But the themes for the seasons are (heard them before even watching, and wasnt a spoiler for me, you can be the judge for yourself). 1) Police/drugs (around in all seasons though), 2) The Docks, 3) Politics, 4) Schools, 5) Newspapers/Journalism.

Not really, they just introduce new characters who live or work in different areas of Baltimore. The seasons each have a new focus though (don't know if mentioning them will spoil it).

I don't really think I could pick a favourite. I definitely had a lot of favourite moments in each (favourite probably in Season 4 though).
