Certain players deserve the credit for top 5 this season but personally player of the season I feel should go to Camoranesi. He set up most of the goals and in absence of Emerson HE held the midfield well too; hes also our only creativity connection in midfield and as far as I recall have only disappointed in 1 game.

It's a little dissapointing to see so relatively little votes for either Cannavaro and Camoranesi.

Zidane got the 'Ballon d'Or' in 98 because he was decisive in the WC Final, whereas other players had been far greater in Club Competition (Del Piero, 21 Goals in Serie A and 10 in the CL) and the World Cup (he missed two matches through suspension for an ugly gesture against Saudi Arabia). So it is understandable, and rather normal that Del Piero, especially thanks to his decisive display against Milan in the Serie A "final", vastly impressed, even if he didn't have the best of seasons this year.
Moggi said today: "Del Piero non si tocca. E' un campionissimo e i campionissimi non si vendono. Alex è un signor giocatore che ha dato un contributo fondamentale per la conquista dello scudetto".
