NHL is a bit different. Almost every team eventually rises into being competitive at some point. NFL too. Even teams like the Browns have eventually gotten to the playoffs. But I definitely agree about NBA.

Besides this, teams in danger of financial upheaval constantly due to relegation or missing CL or whatever are always going to have an impossible time being competitive with their peers. For those struggling to consistently finish top 4, they are never going to compete with the elite. For this bouncing up and down between divisions, they are never going to compete with teams who have years of financial stability from top flight. A super wealthy owner is the only way.

I will gladly pay more taxes to EU if they give 10 billion next year to the smaller teams who stay in CL and they buy all the stars of the SL clubs. They should create special fund for this.

this does open up the door for other teams to get bought up and have more money invested in them

For sure. In reasonable amount, though. This SL is travesty. Football clubs which does not deserve to be there and stay there without being competitive. Juve including.

Think of it this way... The richest, biggest 12 companies in the region are building a new tower for their offices. The owner of the old tower who used to rent spaces to these 12 companies and others is pissed off.

Who really has the power?
