Anglelli obviously played a significant role in this story, but I think it was Perez who really turned the game. If it weren't for big financial problems RM and Barcelona have right here and right now, it probably wouldn't happen, at least not yet. The Super League project would be used as a leverage to get what Perez wanted from UEFA, but nothing more. Now that circumstances changed, he decided to act. Perez has always been a big player capable to make audacious moves.
Perez is old as fuck, guess who will be bossing over the whole thing soon?

I dont get the fuss. lazio atalanta roma, viola they can play in serie A and it will be interesting to see who wins it. Then we will be watching from ESL and getting their players. They get cash and get title. Before ESL they only got cash.

so how do you get all teams to stay competitive?

bonuses and money based on where you finish in table? with bottom 3 getting less money and top 3 getting most?

top team to get draft picks? where they get to take a player off the other teams roster without a fee to the owning club?

At least this won't have gone to waste now.

Did he? I don’t know much about it before the past few years. Agnelli seems to have made himself the face of it, for better or for worse. Perhaps some bigger movers and shakers from other clubs in the background though.
Wenger in 2007 even predicted this would happen sooner or later.

They’re talking about a playoff format.

10 teams in two divisions. Top 4 in each go into a quarterfinal round. The extra revenue from getting into that playoff round would definitely make teams push hard for that.

My only problem is that we won't get to see us play clubs like Sevilla, Valencia, Olympiakos, Celtic, Galatasaray, Zvezda, Lyon, Benfica, Russian clubs, and so many more. Those away games are always exciting against this kind of clubs, crazy atmospheres to look forward to. That's where the beauty and charm of the current format are for me.

Well the competition is set to replace the CL for now and not the domestic leagues. Also the top 8 teams will enter a mini knockout tournament. Those who don't qualify will presumably just be considered knocked out like after the Group Stages in the CL.

Not if we actually do get kicked out of the league that is.

Oh I know, the NBA is the extreme side of it for sure but it still does happen in the NFL. Not that I watch, but I've seen some shit over the years with these New York teams . NHL I can't comment on because I know literally nothing about it.

Funnily enough, MLS fans beg for promotion and relegation and to be structured more like the European leagues but it'll never happen.
Honestly serie A and other leagues have way more to lose in terms of TV revenue if they kick them out.

Just turn the CL into an FA cup format so that it could coexist with the ESL.
