Youth or Expensive Experience?
I'll try to keep this gripe-fest as brief as possible. If you want feel free to read just the bolded parts
We are all aware that this football club is still struggling to recover after the sharpest of declines that began almost 4 years ago. Our Bord of Directors for the most part are woefully incompitent, the holding company that owns the Club has little interest in bankrolling the failure that it has helped perpetuate and our team is 50% decrepit and 50% untalented. Of course that bald grandfather between the goalposts is a prime example of this. It's common knowledge that our youth is under-used and under-appreciated, our back-ups are Lecce-esque and a fair few of our first choice XI are either too old or incompitent (read Legrotaglie).
My point is this;
We desperately need to replace almost our entire team (if we include the back-ups in the %).
Defence
Cannavaro played a blinder against Siena for the most part but he is far too old, this is his swansong. Brazzo is nowhere near good enough to go anywhere near our first team. Grosso and PDC are apparently World Class players, I must have been on holiday when this happened. Zebina is just too damn injury prone to be kept on and Legrotaglie belongs at a club like Brescia, as a security guard. Zedenek Grygera may Boumsong look like Chiellini. I could go on but there's no point.
Midefield
I'd just like to point out that Felipe Melo is the only Box-to-Box Midfielder that I've ever seen that is terrified of running with a football. Perhaps his remit should be changed to a 'one end of centre circle to the halfway line' midfielder.
We have nobody he that can deliver a killer long pass.
Otherwise it's impropper use of the talent available, the Chemo-Kid for example.
Attack
Too old, Too Slow, Too Lazy, Too Selfish. Take your pick but all of our forwards have at least one serious flaw and their careers are winding down for certain.
We need success but we need a new team of players. Is it possible to have another three seasons of poor performance by buying big names one or two at a time.
OR
We could use our youth players (the best ones) and buy in younger ones from other European clubs.
So what's it going to be, a vibrant soon to peak Juventus or an peaked and fading personification of the death of Calicio?
Edit:The pictures aren't a we've doomed, they're representative of the two different options
