Ah, grand. So, something to avoid on Friday then! :p I'm sure I can find something/one more interesting to do on a Friday night than watch the "pidgeons of peace" (copyright Jimmy 'Memory man' Magee, a neighbour of mine, and a famous Irish commentator) explode into little fireballs as they hit the Olympic flame.

I'm watching Argentina-S&M on Eurosport, and Argentina has by far the best team in the torunament. Ayala, Colocinni, D'Alessandro, Tevez, Saviola, Burdisso, Kily, Mascherano, etc. A frighteningly good team.

Game over, 6-0 for Argentina. Fantastic, truly fantastic play. Great passing, movement, dribblings, cheeky moves, everything that caracterises the Argentinians. Fantastic performance by all the players.

Heinze had an assist and a goal, played great in defence, can ply both left and centre, I'd be happy had we bought him.

Mascherano was also very, very good in defensive mid, he played just infront of the back 3 (Heinze, Ayala, Coloccini), great tackler, works hard for the ball, good passing, involves teammates... certanyl an upgrade from Tacchi...

Good game from D'Alessandro, had a great assist for Kily Gonzales, also had a few more great passes that went unused... excellent dribbling and vision...

Kily gave them hell on the left, one of the best players of the match.

Tevez seemed a bit uninterested at first, tried but couldnt really get into the game. Scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes of the first half, two great goals, but other than that he didnt seem to be involved so much, maybe because he played a bit deeper, as a playmaker. Good game nonetheless.

Saviola was also good, excellent passer, good dribbler, pacey... an upgrade to Del Piero.

But, the player that really impressed me, altho he maybe wasnt MoM, was Cesar Delgado, 23 year old Cruz Azul forward. had a goal, a few beautiful moves and dribbles, great vision and passing... IMO one to watch for the future, we could do with a player like him. I personaly was very impressed with him.

    Thanks for the review Z

In other news, Korea drew 2-2 with Greece after taking a 2 goal lead but conceding 2 in the space of about 5 minutes :irritate:

I've been watching a few of these games -- whoooeeeee. Get out the gas masks. They're stinking up the pitch out there. :yuck:

It's no wonder the stadiums are empty too. Save for perhaps all the Iraqi expats who seemed to behave like mid-80s Brits under only their worst drinking binges. (They sometimes say you get the government you deserve ... now I'm wondering if some people truly did deserve Saddam Hussein. )

I don't know if I can watch any more of the Olympic soccer coverage. It is sort of like a car accident -- gruesome and revolting, but I also can't look away.
