So the UFC is going to have its 1st broadcast on Versus and it's gonna be a good one. The card is stacked and looking extremely appealing to me. The main event features Vera and Jones. Both are dynamic young fighters but I like Bones Jones to take this one in a competitive battle. Another highlight fighter is Junior taking on Gabriel. Two skilled guys but Dos Santos will win in another impressive showing.

The rest of my predictions look like this:

Kongo - lose (again)
Guida - win
Matyushenko - wins impressively
Schaub - show why he sucked in the UFC before and why he sucked on TUF and now again will lose another UFC fight - lose

Ok so my predictions weren't soo far off. Bones Jones rocked Vera and Junior just pummeled Gonzaga. Kongo surprised me with his win.

This was an awesome card and it turned out to be a great night of fights. Dos Santos, Bones Jones and Roberts all had sick TKO/KO hits but Roberts wins that honor

I didn't catch the prelims because Spike nor Versus aired them on Sunday

The only prelim I saw was Howard-Roberts because the Sakara fight ended early in the first round -- stoppage

Here's how it goes:

GSP will beat Hardy in unimpressive fashion just like the rest of his fights. Such a highly rated fighter with all the hype yet he is the most boring big name title holder to watch fight (like Floyd cough cough).

Mir/Carwin is going to be bananas. Both skilled, big (Carwin obviously wins the size challenge) and experienced. Mir wants to fight Brock so bad that he will mow down anyone that comes in his way. While Shane is still 11-0 and is by no means an easy opponent. This is the perfect setup for the winner to fight Brock when he returns from his year-long yeast infection. But if Mir wins (which I think he will) then this will show how determined he is to get back in the ring with Lesnar and take back that belt and become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the UFC.

I agree, GSP for the win. And while it may be unimpressive it still doesn't take away from the fact that GSP is the best fighter in his weight class by a large margin. Unless Hardy can get an early knockout, I don't see this being close.

Mir should beat Carwin. He has experience, strength, superior submission skills, and a newfound determination to kill Brock Lesnar. However, Carwin is a destroyer of men who has pummeled and pounded his way to heavyweight contention. I could see him knocking Mir out.

I think before we even begin to speak on a Mir-Lesnar rematch we have to consider Velasquez. He's been impressive in all his wins and may deserver a shot at Mir if Lesnar's recovery takes too long. Just food for thought, a Mir-Velasquez card would be entertaining.

I agree that GSP has no one else that would be a valid contender in the welterweight division. But then again the last true opponent he had was Alves whom he just layed on top of for 5 rounds back in UFC 100. Even Dan Hardy is not a worthy contender IMO. The UFC needs to funnel in some WW talent.

The Cain topic is an interesting one. Yes, he's beaten some great fighters impressively. The problem is that the heavyweight division is really competitive again all of a sudden with Junior, Cain, Shane, and Mir. Where the hell was this depth a year ago!! I think Dos Santos and Velasquez would be an AWESOME fight. Let the winner of that fight take on the winner of the interim title holder of this weekend's events.

The rumor mill is saying that Cain should get a shot at Carwin but I disagree. As mentioned in an earlier post, I think that Cain and Junior should go at it to see who should face the now UFC heavyweight champ Shane Carwin.

Until now I cannot understand how Hardy manage to survive the submissions and continued. That was amazing by Hardy to his credit. As GSP said, I too thought his arms were made of rubber!

IMO, GSP is one of the most powerful and entertaining MMA fighters of all time. He's just perfect both in attack and defense right now.

I didn't say that GSP didn't dominate or own Hardy for the entire fight. What I said was that he is the most boring title holder to watch fight. He doesn't have the killer instinct that a champion should possess which allows him to finish a fight. Instead he just takes his opponent to the ground and lays on top of them for 5 rounds. If anyone finds that entertaining then there is something wrong with you.

GSP is a damn good fighter, he's just not a finisher.

Nice event put together in Abu Dhabi where the best jiu-jistu and submission artists congregate for training and tourney's every year. I'm excited to see Silva fight since his surgery and his humiliation of the bitch formerly known as Forrest Griffin. Going up against the BJJ specialist Maia will be interesting but no one has ever challenged Silva on the ground and we all expect Maia to stick to his strengths. It will be a good fight with Silva winning by a KO

BJ Penn will destroy Edgars. Nothing more, nothing less.

Terry Etim is fighting his first main event program and prepare to be amazed. This kid is oozing talent and the last hope for UK fighters.

All I can say right now is that I was more disappointed last night than when we were eliminated from the CL this year

UFC 112 was a good idea that just didn't turn out how everyone expected.

I'm heart broken about BJ being shafted from a weak judges score. I don't want to go into a rant about how dumb the judges were giving Edgars the UNANIMOUS decision. Give me fucking break. This same scenario played into Machida-Shogun back in October. Where people thought that Shogun should have won the fight because he leg kicked Machida for 25 minutes. No takedown or sub attempts, no knockdowns and no mounts. Shogun rightfully did not earn the title that night but apparently the judges at UFC 112 thought that since Edgars bounced around the ring like a little bitch the entire fight and took Penn down about 3 times (but not doing anything once the takedown was successful), and landed a handful of good shots that he earned the lightweight championship from the greatest lightweight fighter in MMA history. Bullshit and Dana White knows it.

Good job Dana, now you have a sorry ass lightweight title holder, a pussy Jean-Claude Van Damme wannabe who can't finish a fight and only knows how to lie on top of his opponent at welterweight, a middleweight class that has had the same dancing champ who made a fool of himself resembling the welterweight champ on Saturday. The UFC does so much right but in one evening can ruin everything.

The Strikeforce event this past Saturday night was bananas!

Mousasi completely disappointed everyone as he was just man handled by King Mo in a wrestling showcase. Lawal used his superior wrestling to completely nullify Mousasi's BJJ. He out struck him in the stand up and just smothered him on the ground, all of which reminded me a GSP-esque performance by King Mo. Much props to Lawal for dominating 5 rounds to earn the title and for backing up all the trash talk.

In all honesty Mousasi looked like ill prepared, out of shape and just plain disinterested in the fight. Will this embarassment be his exit of the Red Devil camp?

Aoki makes his U.S. debut and gets pounded by Melendez which was no surprise. These jap fighters just can't cut it overseas.

Miller's outburst and melee after the Shields fight was the highlight of the night which resulted Melendez and Diaz and the the rest of Shield's camp putting the beatdown on Miller

Totally agree. UFC 112 was full of shit. First, BJ Penn loses by a stupid decision then a respected fighter turned into a clown inside the octagon, Anderson Silva is not worthy of fighting GSP anymore.

For the BJ fight, this Edgar guy is not tough enough to be the lightweight champion of the world! The fact that 7 of his last 9 wins were by decisions qualifies him as one of the most boring 'champions'. I'm 100% assured BJ will destroy him in the rematch.

Even though BJ Penn wasn't at his best, however, I think UFC judges should consider the 'draw' outcome more often especially in championship fights.

As for the next Machida-Shogun fight, as a huge fan of the jap-brazilian, I predict/want Machida to end the fight with an early KO.
