Italy: Marchionni comeback
Marcello Lippi has surprisingly called Marco Marchionni for the Georgia and Bulgaria qualifiers, leaving out Riccardo Montolivo.
The Coach was expected to bring in Fiorentina midfielder Montolivo after Gennaro Gattuso was ruled out for two weeks with a sprained ankle.
However, the former Under-21 international does not feature in the Italy squad for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Instead his Viola teammate Marchionni is included along with Claudio Marchisio and Domenico Criscito, who made their senior debuts earlier this month against Switzerland.
Juventus veteran Nicola Legrottaglie also returns to the fold, as Genoa’s Salvatore Bocchetti is injured.
Italy will travel to Tbilisi to face Georgia on September 5 and then welcome Bulgaria to the Stadio Olimpico in Turin on September 9

Marco Marchionni admits he did not expect to receive a recall for the Italy squad just two games into his Fiorentina career.
“It is a great satisfaction to be here, even more so considering it was so unexpected,” he smiled.
The winger had been on the sidelines of the Juventus side, but was brought in to Florence as part of the exchange for Felipe Melo.
He was included in Marcello Lippi’s list of players for the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia on Saturday and Bulgaria on September 9.
The 29-year-old only has three caps under his belt and last received a call-up in September 2006 when Roberto Donadoni was at the helm.
Marchionni was drawn on the controversy surrounding Lippi’s refusal to call up Antonio Cassano.
“Not seeing Antonio wearing the Azzurri jersey is strange, but the Coach makes the decisions.”
After this break for international duty, Fiorentina resume in Serie A against old rivals Juventus and dive straight into the Champions League group phase.
“I don’t see all that much difference between Fiorentina and Juve,” said the former Bianconeri man.
“In recent years the Viola have proved they can compete with anyone. We will have to be very careful when it comes to Genoa, Napoli and Lazio, who are all playing very well.
“As for Europe, Olympique Lyonnais are a tough side, but according to Fabio Grosso, we can do it.”
Grosso left Lyon this week to join Juventus and is Marchionni’s teammate in the Italy squad.

We finally managed to offload this deadwood player and used part of that fee to secure one of our best signings this season, and you're saying "F*** SUCKo" just because MM got called up to the Azzurri squad?
Sure, I'd understand that you might be a little miffed about selling MM if he started playing some wonderful football and thoroughly earned his call-up, but the fans, the media and the player himself are surprised that he got the call.
Marchionni could win the Ballon D'or for all I care, but if his performances for Fiorentina are on par with what he showed at Juve, I'll continue to say "good riddance".
