Short on options ?

I like Marchionni, but he was hardly a vital player for us. HE was the backup really..

Even if you were to consider Marchionni crucial, his role could easily be covered by Nedved, Camoranesi and Salihamidzic as other true winger options and with some creative tinkering Marchionni's role could be filled indirectly by other players such as our offensive central midfielders or our forwards.

I feel sorry for him. he started well into the pre-season.

We are not short on options though. We still have three wingers in Nedved, Camo and Sali. Plus we don't have to play a system with two wing-midfielders.

-----Nedved-Tiago/Zanetti/Nocerino--Almiron

Camo/Iaquinta-----------Trezeguet----------DP

or

----------Zanetti/Nocerino
Almiron------------------------Tiago

Microfracture for Marchionni--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus midfielder Marco Marchionni sustained a microfracture in his foot and could be forced to undergo surgery.

The former Parma man had been one of the form players in this pre-season preparation, but he won’t be facing Sunderland in this weekend’s friendly.

“During Thursday’s training session a hole in the turf caused Marchionni to sprain his left foot and feel terrible pain in the area of the fifth metatarsal,” explained the Bianconeri website.

“This morning’s X-Rays confirmed the incomplete fracture of that bone. The player has been put in a supportive cast and must now walk with crutches.”

Juventus refuse to rule out the need for surgery to correct the problem when he returns to Turin with the squad on Tuesday.

So Marchionni will definitely not be taking on Roy Keane’s Sunderland on Saturday afternoon, while Mauro German Camoranesi is also expected to be sidelined.

Camo and Neddy are our 1st choice wingers. Brazzo can be cover for the both of them. God forbid they both get injured... then its time to ring the alarm bells. I suppose Almiron could fill as a side mid if need be

...and then we have Palladino, and Iaquinta who can fill in on the wing.

Marchionni was a backup player, no doubt, but a very good one. It limits our options and god forbid something happens to Camoranesi or Nedved.
