What the hell is going in Secco's mind. He should not sell any of our defenders unless he is going to buy a better one.

BTW Antunes joined Roma for 1.5€ (it's worthless that we were first linked to him and according to some sources we "signed" him which is appearently not true)

Italian Press: Liverpool In For Boumsong

Tuttosport has claimed that Liverpool are set to pounce for Juventus stopper Jean-Alain Boumsong.

The French international centre-back is out of favour at the Old Lady and, with the arrival of the likes of Jorge Andrade over the summer, his prospects in the first team are limited at best.

Recently, Boumsong has been linked with clubs ranging from Barcelona to Lyon. Predictably, none of the rumours have as yet come to fruition.

Boumsong himself has recently claimed that he forsees a stay at Juventus, saying, "I have Juve on my mind, ready to start the new season. I'm ready to work and looking forward to enjoying time on the pitch.

"There is a 99% chance that I will be at Juve after August 31."

But Tuttosport insisted that Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is set to look to the ex-Newcastle United defender to play stopgap after the injury to Jamie Carragher.

Neither club has confirmed the news at this time.

I don't know about this one.. Hope it's BS as the squad is the right size so unless we have a secret replacement lined up (Pepe out for a while so we can discount the remote poss of Canna) we need the guy..

Juve handed Boumsong blow

Juventus are counting the cost of last Friday’s friendly with Real Zaragoza as stopper Jean-Alain Boumsong is facing two months on the sidelines.

The Bianconeri were beaten 2-1 by the La Liga side in a surprisingly competitive match to mark the Spaniards’ 75th anniversary.

Boss Claudio Ranieri had much more to worry about than the defensive lapses that allowed the hosts to triumph as Raffaele Palladino, Antonio Nocerino and Boumsong all limped off.

While ex-Piacenza star Nocerino looks likely to return to training within the week after picking up a slight knock and Palladino is already back in action, Boumsong has sustained a much more serious thigh injury.

Initial estimates suggest that the French international will be out of action for the next eight weeks, which will come as a blow to the Old Lady after his accomplished performance in Spain.

Juve look likely to turn to a back line of Alessandro Birindelli, Jorge Andrade, Domenico Crsicito and Giorgio Chiellini for the Week 3 clash against Udinese.

I won't celebrate his injury like some no doubt will, but I don't see this as a loss.

The further away from the pitch Boumsong is the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Agent: Boumsong stays put Tuesday 27 November, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Out-of-favour Juventus defender Jean-Alain Boumsong is staying in Turin, according to agent Vincenzo Morabito.

The French stopper was a key figure in the Old Lady’s promotion from Serie B last term with 33 appearances, but he’s yet to feature in the top flight.

In the summer, Boumsong was heavily linked with Lazio, but he seems set to stay put and fight for a place.

“The lad’s future is still in Turin,” Morabito told Tuttomercatoweb.it.

“He is happy in a Juve shirt and he and his family like life in Turin. It would be hard to leave and he would only do so for one of the world’s biggest sides.

“There was no concrete contact with Lazio. In the summer there was a tentative approach from Lyon, but nothing came of it.

Recently there have been whispers that Real Madrid are interested in my client, but at the moment they are just whispers and nothing more.”
Boumsong is currently sidelined with an injury as Giorgio Chiellini and Nicola Legrottaglie occupy the centre-back positions.
