The Leafs are a parody. Fans say, "They've got a solid future, though." They made the playoffs in a shortened season, give me a fucking break. Next year when they're back to their old January drop-off, we can discuss how much we're all looking forward to the future.

You remember those 2010 Olympics, right AC? Remember what happened between your mighty Americans, and them 'Canadian choking bitches'?
That was the greatest last 10 minutes of the 3rd and OT that I've ever seen, hands down; the rest of the game, yuck!

There are huge issues with the B's right now, the club is going to need to retool a bit for next season. They haven't played well consistently for more than 2 months; it's almost like the team has forgotten that their game is predicated on dumping the puck in deep, and pounding out the forecheck.
Anyway, I was supremely proud of the team last night, they were dog tired (having their plane break down, so they had to fly on game day didn't help), but never gave up. I think I probably was more excited during both of Bergy's goals than at just about any other single moment I've had as a professional sports fan.
It was nuts. I'll never see a comeback like that again. Hopefully we get a couple of our d back (transition game has been BRUTAL, our breakout is disgusting right now), and Jagr hits the press box. He won't, but after having seen him in Boston for a stretch, the guy just doesn't fit. He's not good enough to break into the top two lines anymore (doesn't fit the style they play), and clearly he needs to be playing with players more offensively minded than Pevs and Kelly.
It's like he's skating in quicksand out there... and if I see him try to deke through multiple defenders as he enters the offensive zone one more time, I'm going to fucking lose it. Those turnovers are killer.

Finally, for Maple Leafs fans, there are truly better days ahead, Max. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. Toronto is on the up and up, no doubt about it in my mind. Based upon how my boys played, and how the Leafs played, Toronto deserved to win this series.
Experience and character is what clearly won out in the end.

Suffice to say that this was the first time a team has ever come back from 3 goals down in the third period, during an NHL playoff game. Ever. That can't happen unless a team chokes BIG TIME.
Sorry buddy, tough way to go out, and I know that Forsberg trade is insanely frustrating (that was always a bad deal, IMO, but I'm going mostly by the kids reputation here).
At least your boys bounced back from their terrible start to the year, and demonstrated that they're going to be quite a good team under Adam Oates. Continuity is so important, it would be nice if he could stay there for a bit (a great offensive mind with a couple of the leagues very best); I know nothing is guaranteed with Oatesy, but he is a top notch character, and I think he was a good choice to lead your club.
This was outstanding. At least the poster has kept his sense of humour.
Isn't that what always happens to the Caps? Don't get me wrong, Adam Oates was a good player and seems like a good coach, but the Caps just don't have the killer instinct needed to win the Cup. Something needs to change in the organization and I'm not sure the coach can fix it. Perhaps Leonsis needs to get out of town because he's also royally screwed the Wizards.

My opinion is that the Caps have leadership issues; I've thought that for awhile. Brooks Laich should captain that team (and ideally, they should be looking to add a bit of skilled leadership) - but how do you strip AO without creating a shit storm? I don't think they can. Seems impossible.
I know that on his day Ovechkin is one of the world's best, but he's never been captain material; there are too many instances where he doesn't lead by example, which is vital obviously, and I just don't get the feeling that he can inspire that locker room too much with his words, either (at least from what I've heard in his interviews, and I know there's a bit of a language barrier, but I'm not talking about broken English - I'm talking about substance).
This guy is introducing conspiracy theories about the officials rigging games - or it's the league, trying to create favourable matchups to increase revenue - and also continually repeating how it's not just one guy (yes, it is a team game). But he makes over 9.5M per season, and when the team's record so clearly demonstrates that he usually needs to score for them to win - and then he buries 1 goal in 7 games? 1 goal, 1 assist, -2, in 7 games? That's not acceptable production, not even close. As captain, he need to man the fuck up and take responsibility for not getting his job done. That top line did not get it done. He needs to start by placing the largest portion of that burden of blame on himself, that's part of his fucking job. A good captain expects more from himself than anyone expects from him, and he expects more from himself in terms of effort and dedication than he does from anybody else. Ovechkin needs to take a look in the mirror.
It makes it really difficult to build a team around, IMO. He's a fantastic player, but not a true leader, and in terms of his overall game, he's usually the second best player on that team. That's despite making almost 3M more than Backstrom - which is absolutely crazy to think about. If I could pick between those two for my team, I would choose Backstrom every time.
Anyway, new coach, new system, the goaltending has generally gotten better, and they do have a few elite offensive pieces (provided they're healthy); it will be interesting to see what changes happen in the offseason, and how the team continues to develop in year two of Oates' system.
