Now let's not talk about the Saints on the US team with diver/faker extraordinaire Kesler and Taxi cab driver puncher Kane. :p

There was a D that I thought was drafted by Detroit but I looked and it's Pitts. Després his name. Solid D that kid.
Despres is legit. Should be ready to go soon enough.

No new discoveries by that Swedish scout?
We don't have any elite prospects from Sweden, but other guys look good. Teemu Pulkkinen, Tomas Tatar, and blueliner Brendan Smith are the best prospects we've got at the moment. Smith seems to be a real-deal talent with great potential, so we're excited about him.

Yeah. Bieksa would look good with you guys(us too). Size and can score. On one pair you'd have Kronwall and the other Bieksa. Solid!

I like Bieksa. He'd be my first choice for sure. We need someone of his size but we probably can't afford him unless Nick retires or takes a paycut.

Him and Kronwall would be scary to play against.

No he doesn't, he's tied with two better players and leaders from Team Yzerman. Plus Thornton has what, three goals? :pado: I've always said he can make a nice pass, but as a scorer, leader and captain, he's a consummate piece of trash.

And you must forgive me. There isn't much to like on team Canada, apart from Toews and the beast Doughty. :pado:
Who cares if he scores many goals? You're talking about a guy who's got multiple seasons with 90+ assists. Guess who else has done that?

He makes the players around him MUCH better goal scorers (see Cheechoo with 50+). They're also using him more in defensive situations; he's worked hard to develop his game in other areas. That demonstrates leadership, buddy - working hard in practice, leading by example. Playing hurt also demonstrates leadership.

Anyway, I understand that you like to hate on some guys, which is cool. Everybody has players they don't like, but there are also quite a few NHL coaches that disagree with your assessment about Thornton's leadership qualities.

What if the Sharks win the Cup? Would you change your tune?

    Consummate trash? C'mon now... :howler:

The only guys that I legitimately don't like from Team Canada are Heatley and Pronger - not the most likable guys.

I understand why you don't like a lot of the guys from San Jose and Anaheim though.

He's about to sign a multi-year deal with the Preds. :p
Do you have any sources for this buddy? I had heard that Nashville was likely going to have trouble locking down Weber long term.

Pitkanen, Bieksa and Christian Ehroff. Not bad. Would love to get one of those.
I don't think those boys will be leaving Vancouver - I guess we'll see. Gillis has done a great job with that team.

I'm not a big fan of Pitkanen.

Surprise of the summer. Shea Weber to Detroit!
C'mon... you know you don't want players from Team Canada.

Now let's not talk about the Saints on the US team with diver/faker extraordinaire Kesler and Taxi cab driver puncher Kane. :p
:D I actually like Kesler, but I'll throw Kessel's name out there.

Komisarek was also selected to the team, even though he didn't play. Man I hate that guy.

I read the other day that Montreal has 18 free agents! That's crazy. Should make for an exciting/interesting summer for Habs fans.

a lot are RFA's. In front we only have Halpern and Darche as UFA's and the D will be fun to see what happens. Only Subban and Spacek(I would get rid of him) are signed + a couple of RFA's.

Pouliot and Kostitsyn are RFA's. Would replace them with guys with heart but less talent. Wouldn't mind Laich.

Markov, Hamrlik, Gill, Sopel, Wisniewski, Mara...all UFA's. We signed some Swiss named Diaz and Y(Emelin) already to ~0.9m contracts. A lot of $$$ to spend for the D.

My new Habs(only UFA's and no trades) would look lie this:

    Pacioretty-Gomez-Gionta
    Laich-Plekanec-Cammalleri
    Desharnais-Eller-White
    Moen-Konopka-Jones(EDM)

    extras: Darche and Pyatt

    Markov-Bieksa
    Gorges-Subban
    Emelin-Weber

    7th D: Diaz

    Price
    Garon

We'll probably re-sign Gill or Hammer and get stuck with Spacek so forget Bieksa. Wouldn't mind Talbot on the 4th line.

    Weber story.

A player of his caliber should be scoring more goals, I'm sorry. Look at his playoff numbers. Last year his numbers stunk, and in 2008 his numbers stunk. I'll admit that this year he has done better compared to last year's pitiful playoff performances for this "world class center", but he's made up for it in cheap and dirty play recently.

Again, I never questioned his passing ability, but his performances in the playoffs have not impressed me over the years for the hype surrounding this guy. What's-his-fucking-name on CBC thinks he was the greatest player in the game for a period of time, I mean come on, what BS.

He makes them better because he's a good passer, not because he's a "good leader". More BS. And in the playoffs, when it matters, he doesn't perform anywhere near as well as he does in the regular season. That's NOT FUCKING LEADERSHIP. I don't care if he gets shut down or if he's working hard defensively -- all the top forwards in the league are experienced with that. Datsyuk puts up the numbers AND owns everyone defensively, all the while doing it with class... AND in the playoffs.

That's why I call Thornton trash. He's a trashy player who dives, takes cheap shots, and doesn't always step up in the pressure is on.

Anyway, I understand that you like to hate on some guys, which is cool. Everybody has players they don't like, but there are also quite a few NHL coaches that disagree with your assessment about Thornton's leadership qualities.
I used to like Thornton in Boston, but ever since he emerged as a dolt, so don't play that card with me, Rollie.

What if the Sharks win the Cup? Would you change your tune?
    Of course not.

Clowe punched Kesler in the face after the final whistle.

No class from the Sharks at all, just like no leadership.

Well, I was only goign to say that three of the 4 coaches either coached for Montreal or were in their system, while the Habs have the legendary Jacques Martin. Vigneault and and Julien I don't really care about, but letting Boucher go was just madness. The same is going to happen once Kirk Muller gets a head coaching job as well

    That's right. I forgot Julien.

We got stuck with Martin. He had 3 years left on his contract but the Habs could afford breaking it but you know these guys and tradition blah blah blah.

In one way I said to myself, it's good that Boucher gets some NHL experience but now he may never come here if he's that good. :D The guy is class and doesn't forget who gave him a chance so we may see him here one day. :xfinger:
