Penny Hardaway and Tmac used to be one of my favs as a kid (ultimate fav is KG ofcourse), especially Tmac, man I hate career ruining injuries, that dude should been a true all time player, so ridicolously skilled. He was KD before KD, except much more fun dunker.

Why do old people keep insisting that Jordan was better? LeBron is clearly the GOAT.

I read we can. His cap hold is 4.5 mil i believe and apparently we can afford a 32.5 mil player like Kyrie or Klay with him, not a 37 mil player like KD. And we can clearly afford a player like Middleton with him as a shooter.

Not to mention, I'm not too worried about losing Svi. I'd much rather have us playing playoff basketball this year by having a far superior player who doesn't affect our cap space at all if we let him walk. We're going to have a decent 15-20 pick in the draft to replace Svi, and if need be Bullock if he walks and we need to.

Playoff basketball shows some progression and will make us a more attractive free agent destination in the summer.

I loved Penny Hardaway so much when I was 10 years old haha.
That is if we make the playoffs. I still think we do over the clippers once James shakes off the rust, but we need to start winning soon. But i believed so even before Bullocks came so that makes no differende to me. We can keep Bullocks at 4.5M, but Zubac and the 1st round pick both get around 1.9M as well, so keeping all 3 is not possible i think. Id still rather have Mykhailiuk who could have been part of a better trade than this one at worst, and one of the top shooters in the NBA for us at best. We might be seeing even more trades before the deadline looking at where this is trending, so lets see if this pays off. For now, I think it was an unnecessary side step with little upside.

Penny was insanely talented. He was Kobe before Kobe. He could've been an all time great, HOFer had injuries not derailed his career. The same is true for both T-Mac and Grant Hill (HOFer, but his career could've been even better).

100% this.

As I said, if Lebron is worried about his legacy, slow down, help develop these youngsters, teach them, guide them, lead them, let Magic work free agency this summer and next, make some opportunity trades, we'll get a second star of some sort for sure, plus other pieces, and build the next Lakers championship level team.

His legacy looks far better if he's a part of creating a real championship team here, even if he is a veteran role player when the championship(s) arrive, then winning a single championship as the "Lebrons" and leaving the Lakers a mess.
Damn true. Remember the talk in the summer (coming from him personally as well among others)? PF, more off ball, loving the kids, lil bro (BI) gonna be a problem, Zo needs to realize how special he is. Where did all that go now? I feel like the narrative is at 180° from where it used to be

I don’t know man. Most NBA people wondering wtf Pistons were thinking making this trade. We’re struggling right now, and Ball still out for awhile. Bullock is 3x the player Svi currently is, and is a catch and shoot specialist who is up to speed in the league and having his shots fall. Also a much better defender. He’s going to be a huge help in getting us past the Clippers and Kings into 8th.

If I was a Space Jam alien, and had to pick one NBA great to bodysnatch and have all his abilities and physique, it would defenitely be this guy

Thats for fun, if the ensuing game was between life and death, my ultimate choice would obviously be this insanely obbssessive mental freak of ze HOFers :touched: :star:

Yeah, most people who cover the NBA think that the Pistons got short changed on this deal.

I can't wait until the summer when the Celtics bend the Pelicans over and treat them like a submissive. And the league will applaud them for it.

Summer seems so bloody long ago now. Frustrating as fuck.

Remember how good we were looking after smoking Golden State at Christmas.. 20-14 record, competing in a stacked west for 3rd-4th place... Kids starting to mesh with Lebron and look good, and then Lebron goes down with injury, Rondo gets reinjured, and Ball now gets injured, and we predictably go through a shit spell... and now everyone ready to jettison everything and start from scratch with the new Cavs-style Lakers... :sergio:

Magic and Pelinka need to sit Lebron down and remind him about patience and building this team slowly into something special. Read him the riot act in a sense. He signed up for this, for a project of 2-ish years to make us competitive again. Remind him how good we were looking before him and Rondo going down, and now Ball. Blowing this project up now is beyond stupid. At least wait to see how the rest of the season plays out before doing anything that rash.

:agree:

Or the Clippers, or the Knicks even, joke of a franchise that they are.

Pelicans going to accept half of what we apparently offered and people will applaud them for not caving in to the Lakers. So much hate.

This organization is reactionary to every Lebron emotion it seems. I would have never thought that of Magic Johnson, to be honest.

Now him, Lebron, and Rich paul have put this franchise at a crossroads.

Well duh, you get the player who is solid/above average defender, and shoots well from 3, essentially a solid 3&D guy, and you gave up what? An end rotation guy who wont prolly see any minutes with Pistons, and barely saw any for you. And a pointless 2nd rounder?

I mean Bullocks was shooting 6-7 3s vs Wolves not long ago, in both times we faced them in that same week. He is legit 3&D guy, fits with rotation piece and Lebron ball. He basically giving you what you need, shooting. I doubt Pistons will survive the playoff chase if you give up a contributer like him and get Svi who evidently isnt NBA calibre player yet.

He was absolutely killing us this game, and he isnt supposed to be a premier scoring option lol.

Lebron SHOULDN'T need reminding of anything. he has been in this league enough to know how it should work.

I have to be honest. If he and his entourage are this toxic heading into the offseason, I am all for cutting him.

Would never happen, but if he refuses to buy in to the project and be patient, would absolutely be fine with this too.

I just think we're all overreacting right now based upon over-the-top media speculation. There's probably a kernel of truth, but it's probably way overblown.

Yes thats true for this season. Then what though? We let him walk chasing a superstar, and are one asset short for a potential trade. If we keep him long term then thats another story. Time will tell

The plan was always to give him abd the kids a run the 1st year and then go after a 2nd max. Then we have 2 paths which both look good in their own way. Trade kids for 3rd star or keep them with 2 stars. The 2nd one fits in the "sustainable success" Pelinka talked about after we signed James. The last week looks weird to me having that plan in mind

The worst thing is we have no idea what to expect anymore. The trade for AD looks like it fell through, we are in a mess, and if im a FA superstar id think twice about signing here. We look like we have no clear direction the franchise is moving towards and that we are prone to panicking to one players wishes. Not a good look right now
