@King of Kings

Rondo, yes or no? I heard Kings wont offer him an extension. Is he even possible with the cap space we left?
Signed with chicago.

I think at this point, whomever they sign will be on a 1 year contract so they can preserve their cap space. They need another veteran presence

How about....

BREAKING: Kevin Durant announces on The Players' Tribune that he will sign with the Golden State Warriors.
I can't say I'm surprised.

After all. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em

- - - Updated - - -

I'm thinking that Durant got a vibe from Westbrook that he was going to leave after next season, which prompted the move

Yeah,a lot of people will bitch around but he cares about rings and that's his best move to get it done asap.and maybe even multiple times if it all works good.

Bitch move by Durant, taken right out of LeBron's playbook.
For one, that's a slap in the face of OKC - joining the team one could well argue Durant himself choked and failed to beat just a month or so ago.
More importantly, however, he is jumping on a moving train to be just a passenger, along for the ride. GSW will always be the Splash Brothers' team with Durant being little more than a 5th wheel. Joining a championship team for a quick and easy ring doesn't spell "leadership" or "heart of a champion" to me. Can anyone imagine Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc pull such a heartless, pathetic move?

The only thing is that he will never, ever be the leader and #1 option on the Warriors. Not when you have a 2 time MVP on the team. If he is cool with that , then cool.

I know that people want to compare this with the Lebron situation, but it is so different than when Lebron left.

Durant had one of the top 5-8 players in the world in Westbrook. He's got young guns on the team such as Steven Adams and Enes Kanter. He had a world class coach with Donovan. Lebron did not have this when he left Cleveland. This is probably more of a "Can't beat 'em, join 'em" situation than Lebron, especially considering that Lebron didn't join the team that knocked him out of the playoffs

Take a look at my post, man. Different situations, although on the surface they appear to be eerily similar.

As weird as this sounds, and as much as it would have made my stomach turn, I think the situation in Boston would have been best for him.

They just signed Al Horford, they have an all-star in Thomas, they have a great coach in Stephens, they own Brooklyn's next two draft picks, and they have a young core.

That right there, with Durant on the team, could have been the beginning of a new Celtics' dynasty. And I would have ended up killing myself, so all of you would be happy all the way around :D

Different circumstances, still two bitch moves.
Lebron left for Miami to surround himself with top-brass players that still gave him an easy pass to title-land.
There is more than one way to be a bitch or so a I hear ;)

There is a difference though with going to a team to build a super team, and joining an already super team that knocked you out of the playoffs, though.

Don't know if going to the Celtics would have been the best move for him but it was a situation with great foundation, for all the reasons you listed above, that he could have turned into his own team and be "The Man" on a real contender.
Staying with OKC or even going to SA would have still been great, viable options.
SA is looking to change generations and with Duncan, Geno, Parker likely on the way out, Durant could have been the center-piece of the the new SA - an organization with great FO and coach as a foundation for a new dynasty.

Agree - what Durant did was even worse.

The Celtics were a 48 win team last year in the Eastern Conference. Adding Horford and Durant, with losing only Evan Turner, adds at leas 15 wins to the Celtics, with a presumably easier road to the Finals in the East. They, in my opinion, would have supplanted Cleveland as the best team in the Eastern Conference.

I wouldn't argue with most of the above. My only concern would have been that Durant has always shown to be a loser, who cannot elevate himself to the situation when it matters the most. A supremely talented player, who lacks heart and mental toughness. His joining GSW is just an extension and a confirmation of that.
I am sure a Durant-led Celtics would have given Cavs a run for their money but ultimately I don't see Durant out-dueling LeBron unless the latter falls off a cliff due to age/attrition/injuries, etc.

Durant is the biggest bitch

And people bashed Lebron for joining Wade and Bosh.

Durant just joined the team that broke the NBA wins record, has played in 2 straight NBA finals, and has the 2 time NBA MVP who supplanted him. What an absolute bitch move. Hope Curry spends the next season out injured with his wonky ankles and they don't even make the finals. Durant never deserves a championship. What a joke.

What LeBron did was and is a bitch move in and of its own. Durant, however, outdid him for sure.

The ironic thing about all this is that Durant will probably win his title, probably even more than one, but he will never get the credit for it. He just became just another free-meal chaser.

I'm not defending Lebron for going to Miami, though he had far more reason for it than Durant. Durant has played with Westbrook, a superstar, and stars like Harden and Ibaka, his entire prime. Lebron was surrounded by shit players like Mo Williams, Andy V, Delonte West, washed up old Shaq and others in Cleveland. He left because they never built a proper team around him. How he left was stupid and the Big 3 thing (an idea borrowed from the Celtics by the way :p ) was lame sauce, but at least he had a reason. Durant is just pathetic, playing on a star studded squad, and he leaves for the MVPs team where he won't be even close to the best player on his team.

Just sad.
