Here is a parallel for you. It would be like Lebron joining GSW after losing to them last year.
No, because that didn't actually happen

Yep, someone's stats are going to take a hit, if not all of them. Maybe give them a ball each to shoot?

I'm not sure what salary he demands but imagine some intense rebounder like Biyombo with Curry, Thompson, Durant and Green together. They could get away with any decent board crasher tbh. Zaza Pachulia is a real team player

I guess this means Harrison Barnes is going elsewhere, but it's about time he had a starting spot somewhere anyway.
Biyombo had 26 rebounds in one of those games against the Cavaliers. 26.... :D
He already signed with Orlando

I'm trying to think of parallels to this, but there aren't really any.

This would be the same thing as if Lebron had decided to go to the Boston Celtics after they beat him in 2010, and then lost to the Lakers in 7 in the finals... Literally, the exact same thing, except the Warriors are even better than those Celtics were, and a much younger team of stars.

I suppose, if you can't beat them, join the superteam that's already formed.
I can't think of a single parallel to this with a player of such a high stature. I'm still trying to think, but it would have to be Basketball related, since up until a few years ago, there were only 12 players per team, so the arrival of one player has a bigger impact in the NBA than any other North American sport

Lebron finally won the title in Cleveland this year, then opts out this summer. Imagine he was the one to sign with the Warriors. Win title, sign with losing team.

That already happened, in a way.

49ers defeat cowboys in NFC Championship. Go on to win Super Bowl

Deion leaves 49ers, signs with Cowboys. They win the Super Bowl the next year

So now all of these Laker "experts" on twitter are saying that they should call OKC and offer Russell and Ingram for Westbrook.
.
I think Westbrook will be traded if he doesn't extend with the thunder. And the team trading for him would definetelty be wanting guarantees that he extend. So the lakers either have to a promess from WB that he wouldn't extend even if traded, or they should explore trading for him if they really wants him.

Honestly, Cheesy Poofs, I wouldn't make this trade if I were LA. We don't know what we have in Russell, Randle, Ingram. They were playing for a club last year that was dedicated to giving Kobe a season long free pass to do what he wanted, and while that was great for him and the TV markets, it really didn't give Laker fans a chance to really see what these kids can do. Russell and Nance were rookies, and Randle was basically a rookie last year after having only played 7 minutes in his true rookie season. And now you add in a top prospect such as Ingram, with a new coach, and they have to hang on to these kids. IF they can somehow get Westbrook in Free Agency next year, and if the chance to come back home and help rebuild the Lakers legacy means a lot to him, then cool.

Yeah i agree, if am the lakers i am not making that trade either, i just try to explain why some people on the media suggest that the Lakers should try to trade for the Westbrook right now.

It's all because he is the local kid, and the media is still convinced that the Lakers are not going to let this grow organically, and that they would trade all of their young assets for one or two stars.

If that were true, then they would have traded the #2 pick at the draft.

Why spend so long being shit and angling for picks to trade them for one guy who makes you a half-challenger?
Because trading for that one guy that makes you a half-challenger requires you to trade a good chunk of those young assets to get him. And in the end, especially in Westbrook's case, he would go to a team that would now be worse off than the one he left behind.

That's what I mean, it doesn't make sense for the Lakers to make that trade now, they should play the long ball game.

It's still a Stars league, and Stars attract Stars, and the Lakers don't know how good their rookies will be, if anything they could be bust, that's why if you have the chance to get a SuperStar player like Westbrook you should entertain that idea.
Doesn't mean the Lakers should trade all their asset for one player.

Stars as in more than one on a team.

So, let's say that the Lakers trade Ingram, Russell, and probably Randle as well (Because that is what it will take)

Where is the other star coming from? All three of those players are on their rookie contracts, so it doesn't open up a massive amount of cap space so that they could add another max player. And again, we go back to the Lakers trading a good part of their young core, and then you are left with Westbrook and..........................................Deng? Deng and Clarkson?

Makes no sense, and If I am the Lakers, I don't even entertain it, and take a chance that you can get him in Free Agency. And there would be no reason to do this while in Luke Walton's first year as the coach. He needs to know if these kids can play his system or not

- - - Updated - - -

The Lakers pick this year belongs to Philadelphia and is Top3 protected, so they can't even trade that. Therefore, they would have to give up the young guys.

Not happening. I've sat through three miserable years to see this team rebuild the right way through the draft.

I know, i didn't say they should do it Sergio :D
I know. I just get into panic mode, because I always get this feeling that they are going to do something to try to speed up the clock, when no matter what they do, they won't vault over 5 other teams to get into the playoffs right now. They need to give it time, whether the majority of Lakers fans like it or not.

But it is all good though, because those "Lakers fans" have been Warriors fans for the past few seasons now anyway.
