Lakers are old and have Kobe's huge salary to deal with. They have no pieces to trade with and they'll have a hard time getting back to the top. They'll probably sign a few free agents next year but none of them will be championship material.

The only player under contract next season for the Lakers is Steve Nash, so there will be ample cap space. They won't be able to rebuild in one year, but the lure of playing for the Lakers is always going to be there. You just have to have balls of granite to be able to deal with it.
He's not in game shape, that much I know. Who knows when he will come back, to be honest.

Yes, I know they signed a lot of younger more athletic players, and they SHOULD be a deeper squad than last year, but they will be substantially worse. With the players they have signed, this is looking like the Phoenix offense of old, with taking less than 8 seconds to set up and shoot.
