In defense of the Celtics, some of that stuff was out of their control. Len Bias was going to be the bridge between the Bird era and the next generation. His death the day after he was drafted ruined the future of that franchise. Then, just as they were getting themselves ready to make the climb again, Reggie Lewis dies of a heart attack. You can't control stuff like that

And as far as where I've been? This forum sucks lately unless you are talking about anything except for Juventus, so I've stayed away from the main boards.
:agree:

Hopefully Kobe will have a full and swift recovery, i'm not ready to part with him this soon, one of the last remaining player of the Era when i started watching this game.

It's time to move on if you are the Lakers. Time to start over again. And as long as he is on the team, regardless of who they bring in as a free agent, be it Melo or Lebron, he is not the type to defer.

Lakers are old and have Kobe's huge salary to deal with. They have no pieces to trade with and they'll have a hard time getting back to the top. They'll probably sign a few free agents next year but none of them will be championship material.

Also, Greg Oden returned yesterday :touched: So happy for the dude.

it's probably gonna be miami again.
The playoffs will be amazing tough, will be hard for Miami this time in the east with Drose back, Chicago are contenders, same for the Pacers with Granger, the new improved Nets.

The west is as open as it can be with the Thunder, Rockers, Clippers, Spurs, Grizzlies...

The West looks fun.

As for D.Rose, I don't know if he can do enough to make Bulls better than the Heat but that would be pretty sweet.

Kobe is a free agent after the season. That's over 30 million off the books if they decide to not re-sign him. They have one trade piece, and that is Pau Gasol, but that is contingent on him being healthy and having a good season, so that he can be attractive to a title contender with Cap Space. It would all depend onwhom they would get back in return. If it's not young players/draft picks, then I wouldn't even bother if I were the Lakers. I would just let him walk and take his huge salary off of the books too.

The only player under contract next season for the Lakers is Steve Nash, so there will be ample cap space. They won't be able to rebuild in one year, but the lure of playing for the Lakers is always going to be there. You just have to have balls of granite to be able to deal with it.

When can we expect Kobe, Sergio?
He's not in game shape, that much I know. Who knows when he will come back, to be honest.

If they get more than 35 wins this year, I will be stunned.

Yes, I know they signed a lot of younger more athletic players, and they SHOULD be a deeper squad than last year, but they will be substantially worse. With the players they have signed, this is looking like the Phoenix offense of old, with taking less than 8 seconds to set up and shoot.

The only player in free agency that they signed that even piqued my interest was Xavier Henry, who was a flameout after being a lottery pick in 2010, but he's still just 22 years old, so there's hope, I suppose.

Yeah I was happy when they got Henry, hasn't quite lived up to his height yet but he is young and the potential is there. He has looked good in pre season
