The only time I like Artest is when he makes himself look like an idiot, like in this video.

Bunch of dumb fucks in the NBA.

Hedo to the Raps....

This is very interesting. I looked at it, and decided that I didn't really like it at all. We lose basically all of our bench depth due to salary restrictions (including AP, who while slipping a bit, is one hell of a good character guy)...

But then I thought about it, and realized that if Marion wasn't going to sign for more than 32M over 4 years, this was the only real available option at that position.

Hedo isn't the defending, rebounding, super athlete that this team needs, but he's very well rounded and very good at distributing the ball... and when your back up PG is as unproven as Ukic, that's crucial.

As for the depth, when you consider the fact that we'll probably have to deal Bosh sooner than later (god, that hurts me to say it), we needed another high quality player, and I'm sure there will be some nice pieces coming back in the trade... a bit of depth as well.

Fuck. I'm split on this one. Could be good, could be a very bad.

For the record, none of this is confirmed (have to wait a few more days), but it seems like it's a done deal.

Reports say he signed a 5 year deal worth $53 million. Now that it's pretty much official, it looks like Marion is on his way out. I think it's a good signing. Hedo is a proven scorer, and while it sucks to lose Marion, I think this will work out.

Marion isn't what he used to be.

His defense has fallen off, and he never could create his own offense, or facilitate.

At least Turk can do that.

In other news it looks like the Chicago Cubs have been sold for over 900 million dollars.

And they say this country is in a recession

Oh, for sure. In truth, I'm warming up on the idea of Hedo...

I am still pretty concerned about our depth. The reason why I didn't like this move at first, is because it requires us to renounce Parker, Delfino, and a couple other guys who I'm not particularly concerned about. It pushes this team right up against the cap...

This is where Colangelo earns his money; here and now. Sign and trades. Because if this team doesn't pick up a little quality depth and picks up a couple injuries early on, it might not be able to recover. CB4... tick tock tick tock...

Toronto was never a factor in NBA. Only chance they had when Stodumire and Camby were there to do something for the franchise. Hedo went there to put some quality bucks into his pocket before he dies.

And IMO,I wouldn't mind Marion in Orlando.

I won't mind Marion too, now that Sheed has all but signed with Boston. Marion is little like Odum with that ability to guard faster SF/SG as well bigger PF.

The only thing that Orlando has left is the Mid Level Exemption, which starts at 5.8 million. I don't think that Marion is the type of player to take a 12 million dollar paycut.
Unless they do a sign and trade. In that case, in order to make the salraies match, they would probably have to trade Rashard Lewis. Doesn't seem like an even trade to me

And he's good in transition,on both ends....

Just reading in local web portal that Marion is in negotiations with Dallas....
As part of a sign and trade deal, apparently. I think Jerry Stackhouse is one of the players going to Toronto if the deal somehow goes through

If the Lakers don't re-sign Odom, then their swoop of Ron Artest is all for nothing. Unless somehow a sign and trade is in the works. As it stands right now, the only team with enough cap space to sign him outright is Portland, and I'm not sure how much they would need him.

Where does all this leave Orlando?

Nelson, Carter, Howard, and Lewis looks a solid team, but we have a weak bench. Any news on acquiring Bass from Dallas, now that Sheed is for all intents and purposes a Boston player?

Brandon Bass is an unrestricted free agent as far as I know. It all depends on how far over the Luxury tax Orlando wants to go. They could offer him the full MLE if they want to, but there is no way that he is worth that much
