I was thinking few days ago about the diff between Saddam and Assad's regime, father and the son.

Though I never really admired nor liked Saddam for his terror brain, still Assad's regime has done triple If not more than what Saddam has done to his people.
....
I agree completely with you ! The reason at the end of the day U.S wanted Iraq specifically is personal of course dating from the Gulf War and Bush the father. Assads are worse and now they're immune. The one thing threatening them is the Hariri investigation now. This is why Syria wants to open negotiations with Israel and get them off the hook on this because they'll be accepted to Western World and all that. Saddam sent 39 scud missiles (non WMD warheads) against Israel during the Gulf War, unprovoked and even though Israel never participated in the campaign. Miracalously, they did not inflict any deaths directly. It's indeed the reason Palestinians like him which is strange because they don't mind what happened to all the Palestinians Kuwait expelled as a result of this support... juventus710, with offensive
comments like that the discussion will be closed, please try to connect the issue to Lebanon.
Check out the intelligent comments by Rami and Rab Azzurri7 above - they say how bad is the Syrian regime for its own people and yet some people are brainwashed in just blaming "zionists" for all the problems... unless you're joking, it's just bad taste, it's not proportional and it's racism. Btw mate I understand it's the education and environment you lived in but maybe you can open up to something more peaceful.. cheers.

Back in the gulf war. He sent some Scud missles.

Thanx ;)....the Shi3ir?
I've watched and read lot about the gulf war but It's the first I hear that he sent some scud missles, though I know that he threatened Israel alot just like what Ahmady Najjad is doing ATM. Thanks for the new Info anyway:tup:.

Yeah, I meant the Shi3ir, It has lot of meanings and one of the best quotes I've read.

I don't know who said these two verses...but Saddam recited it after his verdict was announced in the courtroom :D

You're spot on mnementh.

Thats exactly what Bashar's regime are going/looking for:

-Thinking by negotiating with Israel they can run-away from Hariri's International Trial case and be accepted by the west like You've just said It.

and another reason which is

-Bashar regime's do know that they're not really accepted, not only from the Lebanese but from Arab countries aswell (Saudi, Egypt, Kuwait and so on) to the west countries and then States and the list goes....So by sitting down with Olmert's gov they think they'll be somehow much more accepted atleast to the west again looking back at your post like you've said.

Today once again Bashar stated that he's ready to negotiate with Israel, god knows how many times he's been stating that. I really hope Israel would consider that and put tough conditions on him. Other-wise he can be on his own.

Show some respect...

Seeing the whole people as narrow-minded, and the other party as the innocent party, just shows everybody who you are...

If you have facts, show them...

If you have useless sentences, keep them for yourself...

In that movie there's a couple saying they're Serbs, they stand in front of a Serbian flag and the translation in the bottom says "I'm Russian".
And I don't want to bring the Israel-Palestine conflict here again, but I have to mention that ppl in that film naming what country they're from, and there's a guy saying he's Palestinian, but officially there's no country named Palestine.
Altogether it kinda ruins the credibility of this movie... Although the idea is nice.

Shia, Druze, Sunni, and what is the other?

    What are they?
Many of the 17 different sects in Lebanon that have been fighting with each other fir ages. Apparently Nasralla and his plan to turn the country into an Islamic republic will be the solution :disagree:

I think it's appropriate to change the title of the thread to "And people on this forum still care whether Hezballa are Lebanese" at this point.

Rebel, these kind of videos do destory lot of facts about us Lebanese... Not that I'm blaming you for putting It, Infact I've always wanted to talk about this topic to lot of people who think that we Lebanese keep talking about Sheaa, Sunni, Orthodox or Durzi etc....thanks for brining this up.

In Lebanon the problem is between the leaders but was never the sects case, we have 18sects in Lebanon and we managed to live in peace until foreign countries invaded our country in the 1970's until 2005 when Syrian troops left Lebanon.

For example, Hariri supporters most of them are Sunni's, Nasrallah supporters most of them are Sheaa, but that doesn't mean they're against each-others because of this(religion), but because Nasrallah has his own map and Hariri got diff one. The same goes with other leaders.

Lot of Sunni are against Hariri, lot of Sheaa(me for example) against Hezbollah, lot of Christians are with Hezbollah, It's all routin like this. So people are really missing the point here and again I repeat It's about leaders plans and not their religions or what they believe in.

Rebel, don't think my post was aimed at you, It's a general post.

thats true, i ve always heard about the numberof sects present in lebanon its crazy to represent all this in one goverment. i mean each sect has its own believes, its own goals, and has the needs of different lebanese citzens.

His plan isn't something new, It's been even before 1982 when he was in Iran.
Apparently his plan will never work and he knows that he can't get rid of the other sects we have in Lebanon.
