But Sergio, the facts you state are popularity numbers. My all due respect to the Beatles aside, that's like saying McDonald's is the best food out there because of the billions of customers they serve every day (mostly in the bathroom afterwards).

They have not put out any new music in 40 years. You are comparing them to a fast food chain that pumps out billions of dollars worth of processed garbage every day.

My point is, it all goes back to the music. That is the ever lasting presence of The Beatles.

Even now, Greg. There is a new wave of Beatlemania that is going to hit tomorrow once those CD's, Box Sets, and Videogames get released.

What else could you attribute that to? Popularity only works to a point. After that, it is all substance over style. And the Beatles are the most musically substantial group/performer in the last 45 years.

Some people may not want to admit this, because they can't look past the "mop top" days of the early British Invasion, but musically, especially their last 5 years, from Help! to Let it Be, you can't touch them. They did things in the studio, with 4 track recorders, that were considered almost impossible. But they did it.

i wasnt rating them on the pantheon, but rather as an expression of anti-beatlesism; i enjoyed the beatles when i was 12-14 but besides a couple of their songs i find their work like someone mentioned earlier childish, and i hope this opinion wasnt too offensive my friend

Keep in mind, I am extremely biased in my opinion of all things Beatles. I have everything that they have released. As a group, and as solo artists, so I apologize if I am carrying on about them.

I simply can't be objective about a group when every time I hear "The Long and Winding Road", I start to cry, no matter how many thousands of times I've heard the song.

i love music and melodies but what makes a song stick with me is teh words, if we forgive him the style council then for me Paul Weller has been a sensational songwriter for many years,at times politically loaded songs with tremendous melodies
