Salman got it. Neither comes close, in my humble opinion.
Cant say i disagree. That is easily of the greatest songs ever.Much better than Yesterday, which IMO,is extremley overated.

    Fair enough.

I'm not going to say Lennon was better, but I preferred his post-Beatles stuff to McCartney's.
    Np.

Have you heard stuff by The Wings?

I'm gonna go for someone who surely won't be mentioned by folks here, unless Sergio walks in any minute. Prince. Singer/Songwriter/Composer/Producer/Multi-instrumentalist, a brilliant musician in every sense.

I don't know how many instruments each of them play and I'm not trying to compare them at all. But Prince is a musician so often overlooked. At least in RNR waters, and wrongfully so.

    I'm just kidding.

I agree.Prince is criminally underrated.Kinda like George Harrison.Though you cant compare the two since Prince is form another planet as far as songwriting ability is concerned.

If you're talking about lyrics only and not writing/composing the music aswell, then the truth is someone like Nas or any random talented MC could write a "great rock song" while taking a shit.

Are you talking about writers of the lyrics? Or about the composers of the music? Because I think the former is basically topping on the cake in the great majority of cases. I can't remember ever loving a song because the lyrics were great while the music was terrible.
