Just accept the fact we cant compete financially with the European Power-house teams. We have to be smart with our money. Bayern are the perfect example i know we dont own Serie A and get any player we want for bargain prices like Bayern do in Germany. They spend sesnsibly and dont over pay. We were trying to follow the path of the Premiership but Bayern's model is much much better imo to follow.
We never did, other clubs have cash injections and political influence to back them, either be the Emperor in Milan, A russian magnate in London or the Madrid mayor with city/state funding.
We are alone and the FIGC who is controlling us is our official enemy, who would do anything to harm. So we must always be extra carefull of our financial balance.

Thats why its of extreme importance to have very very competent managers.
Managers able to make the difference in the market, spending low to buy great talents or established players, make good profits from our sales and loans and get the better of every contract we own.

With the triade, this was our power, the main reason we could compete with the best, we never had the money to confront them directly, but we could reach at the starters we needed and use the talents and otheap occassions for fillers.

Unfortunately our current manager is completely incompetent.
He loses money on the co own deals, big money, the contract we own instead of creating revenue, sink our financials, as we we have a tendency to buy finished players, just to appeal the fans, or offer as a consolation prize for failling to get our primary targets.
And we are tied to those contracts, losing big money and restricting the ammount we could give to new star acquisitions.

We are glad to overpay and offer salaries noone else would, so every mediocre players who join us, would rather stay on the bench, rather than prefer the release option.
And since we cant sell anywhere near close to 50%of the ammount we are spending on the very same mistakes, we are preferring to cut our loses, by only asking 40% of their prices and sometimes we even fail that to and we end up loaning them forever until they become free agents, many times still paying a part of their wages along with the the team he is loaned.

Even small Italian clubs know that they can take advantage of us and impose very disgraceful demands, because they know that our incompetent manager will have to accept soon or later, as he is too incompetent to find better alternatives.
Post-Moggi, we have been repeatedly abused by certain clubs, esp Fiorentina, Parma and Udinese, clubs that used to feed us with talents, they use to grow players for us and when they became mature enough, not to make the mistakes that can cost points, we were the next step to their carriers.
Now they hold us by the balls, asking for 2-3 times the cash they can get from other clubs and force us to pay 2-3 times the cash they gave to loan our players, just to get them back (Giovinco's half gifted for 4mil, bought back for 12mil)

We are bleeding money in almost every deal we make, even free agents.

You are discussing that because of the money we have comiited on Isla, Asamoah and the money we lost to buy back Giovinco, we could not buy the finisher we need, not only last year, but this year as well.
If this is the case, then Marotta should already be fired!! If two seasons have been wasted from thesame mistake and he is so obviously is holding us back and compromising our future, then he ought to be out by now.

But it wont be the case, i am certain that our transfer budget will be equivalent to what it has been last years, lets just hope that we wont spread it around to more meaningless squad players that are offering nothing and compromising our future, both tactically and financially.

You pretty much described previous management. Secco and Blanc over payed players like Diego, Amauri, Tiago, Almiron and created significant amount of liabilities which slowed down our progress. The losses you mentioned are related to them as this mgt have been trying to clean up the mess and finally it seems we will record decent results this year.

@Cronios

if you just spend half the time working instead of writing those post you would single handedly save the greek economy.
I am on vacations:matri:
The Greek economy could never saved, after the wars we were bankrupt and our infrastructures destroyed, we were occupied and at war, when other countries where making money by sending colonists to gather African slaves, later on, we were stupid enough to be the first country to oppose the Nazi axis, when they occupied us, they have laoned our entire treasury to their banks, in order to fund their wars.

Ever since we have been paying interest, the strong countries, our allies, will never let us to grow enough as to be fully dependant financially.
The US, France and Germany was forcing us to buy weapons in order to defend our selves from our neighbours, for decades after the WW2 that was our priority.
Even now we are threatened from 3 fronts.
The EU, has forbidden us to invest on industry and export agriculture that is already handled by other EU nations, they rather prefer us to loan money, eternally pay debts and be an ideal place for their sunny vacations.

When the dollar was about to lose its place from the Euro coin, the US bankers and other financial powers attacked the euros liability, by attacking its weakest link,
there is nothing i coulr do to stop it really, as it should be obvious by now...

It is true, it is mostly their fault, thats why i insisted in vain that our priority should have been to get decent managers.
It is true that Marotta had to clear that mess.
But it also true that he is no perfect either. Yes he tried to correct many of their mistakes, but in many ways he has repeated them or just made his own.
We have reached his limits, in order to grow from him, we need to upgrade to someone better, just like when we upgraded from Secco to Marotta.

Can't agree with the last notion Cron. I see it more like we're on the right course and we should maintain it. Trusting in this mgt which brought us back to where we belong is the way to go. You don't change something what is not broken and functioning almost perfectly.
Conte, Agnelli and Marotta all have fair share of credit for this.
