You take away religion or institutionalized religion and I guarantee you that people will find some reason or cause to gather in masses. It's in human nature; you might not like it but it's simply how it is. You despise large gatherings of Muslims (or any other religious group for that matter) because the people that gather stand for something you're against. 99% of the time these days they are gathering for the wrong reasons, so I can't blame you for that. But if you had an ounce of knowledge about Islam you would know the importance of a neighbor (metaphorically and literally). In your little mind it's fun to stand-out and come on the forums to write with a tone that makes others look like idiots; to insult as many and as much as possible. You apparently can't fathom such things so I won't stress the matter.

I just noticed something you said btw, you say "we need to get rid of.." That we plays an important role here. By we, you imply that people that think like you should do this together as a group; wouldn't that defeat the purpose? And your little group, who would you look to for inspiration? Communism? Surely they had the best secular society, aye?

Lastly, if you haven't noticed it already through your vast amounts of studies and through all the readings you've come across. Have you ever asked yourself why something as "primitive" as religion still exists today? I mean mankind has come far in so many ways, science and technology especially. Yet this primitive idea of religion still exist. Why?
I agree , people will find something else to gather in large numbers and groups if not for religion . Yes , it is of human nature to want to belong to some place or some group .

Humans want to be led , therefore they want political/religious leaders to lead them . They want confident answers to the unknown so they look to religion .
They want guidance and all religions offer guidance . Therefore a religious person is not lost , he knows what he wants and what he has to do , he has a manual to guide him through life , or so he thinks . People who have lost all their money in through gambling would often ask for forgiveness from god and would try to become a religious person while he wasn't before he lost his money . The same goes to people who have commited crimes , murders , rapes etc ..

Some people see religion as the answer , others see it as the problem . Some people believe in god , others don't . Some people need guidance in life , that being from a religious book , a religious leader , a political leader , others don't .
The only problem is no one can accept that nothing is certain in life . Religious books that have been dated back to more than 2000 years may have been changed and tampered with through time . Science is even less assuring because new discoveries are being made every day and most tend to disprove the ones made before .

There is no reason why religion should be primitive and science shouldn't , they both date back centuries ago . Religion is not primitive , the ideas that are being taken out from them are . The suicide bombers that use the name of god as a motive to kill others , they believe that they will go to heaven if they die in battle .
These people are brainwashed from childhood and will stay that way their whole life . Their own parents will brainwash them and tell them who they should hate , love , and kill . This is what i find primitive .

Do you take Bush to be a devout Christian? Has he done anything "Christian-like" since he's been in office that any other US President hasn't done? Regardless,it doesn't take a genius to figure out that he doesn't control jack.

Of course I have asked myself why religion exists. We all agree it has a function. Not for me however. But there's no such thing as a need for institutional religion. This is not a basic human need.

Like I have said before, it doesn't have anything to do with Islam or Christianity. The content of both religions doesn't even matter. Just look at the crusades for that matter. Violence is not condoned by christianity, but they still happened, didn't they?

The "we" obviously isn't a group. The "we" is society. Now I reckon you don't want to destroy society. We could all go our separate ways I guess, but it's not something I'd recommend.

Lastly, you're only pissed I took muslims as an example :D.

Andy, the reason I don´t talk (debate) with you is because you are an idiot. And nor just a regular idiot. You are a one-time idiot people get to see in their whole life.

1) First of all, you picked on me a while ago and I even don´t know why. You never gave me a good reason why you hate me. I´m still waiting for it.

2) Second of all, you don´t know how to talk to a human being. You continuosly insult. You can´t say one sentence without "fuck", "shit" or "retard". These are the main words in you vocabulary. I happen to hate people who use much of that kind of words, and when I see you talking like that I immediately lose my will of talking. What are you anyway? A 15 year old retard kid that pretends to be a gangsta repper? Because, one person you remind of is a younger and dumber version of Eminem.

3) I don´t often have time to debate is because I am on work, you fucking moron. Did you ever think of that? My reason of not debating is because I have a busy schedule everyday. That´s why I often post short or simple posts, not because I don´t know how to talk, write or spell. (example: Vinman). For your info, I went 10 years to English course and have 3 diplomas: PET, AEU and CAM. I don´t recall what these letters stand for, but when I check I will let you know.

4) You are a college boy. You either study, get drunk or post on Internet. Do you see how sad is your life? Your biggest pleasure in life is posting on Juventuz.com. That is your virtual life because you don´t have a real one. A proof is that you have 25,000 posts. So, it is not strange that you care much about certain threads and posters. When you don´t like or understand certain opinions then you go on abusing that posters, like Tonykart and me for example.

5) You are not intelligent because you know something about weather. Like Seven said, intelligence can be measured only by IQ. And even if a person is smart, it can only use a certain percentage of its abilities, so an incredibly intelligent person doersn´t have to sound smart too.

6) You don´t even know me. The "real" me. Nobody in this Forum does. I can post whatever I want and I can pretend to be a dumb asshole but that doesn´t mean I really am dumb in real life.

7) Until few months ago I was getting along very good with your best friend Burke until you (of course) turned him against me. Even though he is often very drunk (or he pretends to be) and he usually uses similar vocabulary, he is a lot smarter than you. He just doesn´t want to hurt your feelings and "agrees" with you on every aspect.

He probably supports France exactly because of Juve.
Hell, at certain periods we even gave more french nt players than italians. Maybe he loved Zidane or Trez or Deschamps so much that he started supporting France and Italy kicking their ass in the final last summer made him hate Italy.
Just my theory :p
Your theory is correct. But even so, why the hell should I explain Andy why I support France? And from where does he get that I support France over Croatia? Also, I don´t hate Italians, I hate Juventus rivals, and biggest Juventus rivals are Italians, you goddamn idiot. You see how dumb are you, Andy? You don´t have any logic.

Also, like Rebel said, how can one support Italian league and authorities after what happened to Juventus last year? Italian league is ruining itself.

fair enough, i dont see anything wrong with supporting france, but supporting italy, the lpayers has nothing really to do with supporting the FIGC. you can still be a republican or conservative and not support the leader.

Let's make way for a change of subject:

I just finished reading A Season With Verona. And I've only had it for four days. Which makes me want to know two things:

    1. Has anyone read Italian Neighbours by Parks?
    2. How on earth did Hellas Verona manage to buy Mutu, Gilardino, Camoranesi and Oddo in the same season?

I don't have some good knowledge on the subject and i won't say you are wrong but there are people all around the world who live in miserable conditions and still 99% of the suicide bombers come from one part of the world.

    2. How on earth did Hellas Verona manage to buy Mutu, Gilardino, Camoranesi and Oddo in the same season?
I haven't read the book and i am not familiar with the situation in Verona back then so i will only speculate.
Maybe it was only good scouting
From economical point of view buying these 4 players wasn't a sacrifice. Gilardino was only 18 and he came very cheap. Mutu in 2000 was in Verona only on loan from Inter and they bought him two years later, in 2002, not in 2000 when he arrived to Verona.
Camoranesi was bought for less than 1 million from Mexico and Oddo was a free transfer after his contract with Milan ended in 2000.

It was either very good scouting or big luck. Or both :)

Well, obviously it was some good scouting. But luck must have been involved somehow. Camoranesi was lucky IMO, but Gilardino had quite the reputation before he joined Veron. I have always found Oddo's talent clear to see, but people must have thought otherwise.

I didn't know they were only loaning Mutu.

Of course I have asked myself why religion exists. We all agree it has a function. Not for me however. But there's no such thing as a need for institutional religion. This is not a basic human need.
I think you're looking at it from the wrong end. The question isn't whether or not people need it. It's probably more about what is it about the human condition that has made religious belief an emergent pattern of existence, despite many cultures spread throughout the world that had obviously never before had contact.

Suicide bombers are not brainwashed. They're motivated by the miserable conditions more than the religious motives.
Just like South Korean Cho Seung-Hui, the oppressed guy who shot up Virginia Polytechnic Institute and himself in response, right?

Let's make all mass murderers into thoughtful martyrs if we're going to take that approach.

Let's make way for a change of subject:

No on 1. I liked the material in Verona, but not strongly enough to make me want to read his other musings.

As for 2., I have to believe they got tremendously lucky and found players well before their prime who actually would last in the league. I mean, who would have thought that Spinesi of Castel di Sangro fame would years later net 17 goals in Serie A last season?

But for every success story and player in the locker room that went on to be nationally capped on adult squads, there are probably a dozen who amount to nothing or end their career in injury or psychological failure.

That's true for Mutu and Camoranesi, but players like Oddo, Gilardino and Bonazzoli were hardly gambles. The last two were even in the under 21 Italian squad.
