I could be.

Well whats the point in not uniting with one another when there would be no religions.
I don't know how to tell you this but religion isn't the reason of all our problems . Yes , it has a big art in influencing wars etc.. ]

It's of man's nature to hate the unfammilar and to protect what is dear and loving to him . Man has been this way since the beggining of time , we always want our country to win , our team to be the best , our political leaders to win .
When someone disagree's we immediately resort to violence and that leads to wars .

Religion is a small part but the thing that has been the cause of so many wars is simply human nature .

You guys should really watch the South Park episode in which Cartman turns up in the future, where there is no religion anymore, only atheism. Yet there are several atheist alliances who are in constant mutual conflict because they all think their beliefs are the most logical. It's a fucking great parable.

Exactly , i find that no matter what happens humans will be divided in one way or another . Removing religion or anything else will just create different groups and sects humans will want to join . That's just the way we are .

Actually, I was talking to a Jewish co-worker of mine, and he was explaining to me the process of converting to Judaism. Unless your mother is Jewish, you're pretty much screwed. The only way you can convert is years and years of studying after which you have to prove that you're willing to do it
That's probably about right...one of my female cousins (obviously an Italian Catholic) married a Jewish guy years ago & she had to study for ages which worked out not so badly for her because his parents objected to their son marrying a shiksa or non Jewish woman, & Tony had to wait nearly 10 years till his parents died before he could marry Anna. Of course life in the 1950's & 1960's was different, more strict. Nowadays people tend to do more as they please. Anyway, come the wedding day & none of his relatives would accept her. Eventually they did but she's probably really only Jewish in name only. Truthfully Tony became more Italian than she did Jewish...

    (Steve earle)

I woke up this mornin' and none of the news was good
And death machines were rumblin' 'cross the ground where jesus stood
And the man on my tv told me that it had always been that way
And there was nothin' anyone could do or say

And I almost listened to him
Yeah, I almost lost my mind
Then I regained my senses again
And looked into my heart to find

That I believe that one fine day all the children of abraham
Will lay down their swords forever in jerusalem

Well maybe I'm only dreamin' and maybe I'm just a fool
But I don't remember learnin' how to hate in sunday school
But somewhere along the way I strayed and I never looked back again
But I still find some comfort now and then

Then the storm comes rumblin' in
And I can't lay me down
And the drums are drummin' again
And I can't stand the sound

But I believe there'll come a day when the lion and the lamb
Will lie down in peace together in jerusalem

And there'll be no barricades then
There'll be no wire or walls
And we can wash all this blood from our hands
And all this hatred from our souls

And I believe that on that day all the children of abraham
Will lay down their swords forever in jerusalem

And you intend to do this peacefully? :D

People there are far bigger problems than religion and religious violence. AIDS, HIV, famine, underage pregnancy, homelessnes, etc etc. Why is nothing being done to that? If you can't fix something as 'easy' as that then good luck getting rid of religion.

The impact of religion on politics is horrible. And has been for thousands of years. Time we got rid of it completely. Bush saying he's on a crusade should start an impeachment procedure straight away. None of this idiocy anymore.

There's one important thing I must say as well though: we need to get rid of institutionalised religion. We need to get rid of people gathering and forming their own little religious groups. Religion should become something you do on your own, not in a mass. I can't begin to tell you how much I despise masses of muslims in which every single guy does the exact same as his neighbour. It's fucking dangerous.

Scientology is like a Mario game and you have to win up to level 7 or some crap like that, or so I've heard. Im not even bothered to read about it.

Do you take Bush to be a devout Christian? Has he done anything "Christian-like" since he's been in office that any other US President hasn't done? Regardless,it doesn't take a genius to figure out that he doesn't control jack.

You take away religion or institutionalized religion and I guarantee you that people will find some reason or cause to gather in masses. It's in human nature; you might not like it but it's simply how it is. You despise large gatherings of Muslims (or any other religious group for that matter) because the people that gather stand for something you're against. 99% of the time these days they are gathering for the wrong reasons, so I can't blame you for that. But if you had an ounce of knowledge about Islam you would know the importance of a neighbor (metaphorically and literally). In your little mind it's fun to stand-out and come on the forums to write with a tone that makes others look like idiots; to insult as many and as much as possible. You apparently can't fathom such things so I won't stress the matter.

I just noticed something you said btw, you say "we need to get rid of.." That we plays an important role here. By we, you imply that people that think like you should do this together as a group; wouldn't that defeat the purpose? And your little group, who would you look to for inspiration? Communism? Surely they had the best secular society, aye?

Lastly, if you haven't noticed it already through your vast amounts of studies and through all the readings you've come across. Have you ever asked yourself why something as "primitive" as religion still exists today? I mean mankind has come far in so many ways, science and technology especially. Yet this primitive idea of religion still exist. Why?
