Intersting thought, except that we are not trying to go bankrupt.

Juventus have announced that their plans to redevelop the Stadio Delle Alpi will see the capacity dramatically fall.

The arena currently holds close to 69,000 but Bianconeri plans to refurbish the stadium could see it drop to just 38,000.

The club have agreed terms with the Turin council to buy the stadium, on a 99-year lease, in a bid to develop the arena into a more fan friendly venue.

The Italian giants should conclude talks and file the necessary paperwork in order to close the deal for the Stadio on October 31.

Work should start in May 2003 and could take as long as two years to complete, but will definitely be finished for the Turin Winter Olympics in 2006.

The athletics running track will be erased while the stands will be brought closer to the pitch.

Although the capacity will be greatly reduced, Giraudo maintains that with the other projects built into the redevelopment, the club should actually double their normal gate receipts.

There is no way to move the stands closer to the field without reducing the capacity. It simply can't be done that way.

Surely it wouldn't have to be reduced by that much though?

IF so, this is pointless and we should get a new stadium

38k sucks!why do we have to decrease it so much?and how does giraudo know they will double their gate receipts? the total capacity is slightly more than half of the original capacity!
55% of 69000=37950:yuck:

there are so many bigger stadiums:
old trafford
st. james park
guiseppe meazza
stadio olimpico
highbury
nou camp
etc.

They have to redo the angle which the seats rise up in order to move them closer to the field. And consequently, they have to reduce the capacity or spend huge amounts of money to completely rebuild the stands. They can't justify doing this because they don't even fill up 38k normally.

Alright, let me put this another way:

The running track is the main problem. In order to move the stands over where the running track is, they must completely renovate the entire seating structure. This is going to cost a lot of money, and the more seats they keep, the more it is going to cost. With an average attendance of less than 38k, they feel that more than that would be a waste of money.

Well hopefully the average attendance will be full capacity once we have done this operation to the Delle Alpi, then maybe we can expand upwards or something, cause 38K ain't good enough
