Remember when Robbie Keane played at Inter, and he was not very effective and struggled to cope with the tight marking? Same will happen to Rooney IMO. His style is not for the Serie A.
For a start, you ignored Shadowfax's question. He already said he's not talking about Rooney and claiming that you don't have an answer to his statement - the EPL teams have consistantly scored more than they've conceded when playing Italian teams in Europe. Give that I've regularly read here that EPL goalkeepers, defenders and strikers truely suck, I can only infer that their midfielders are truely awesome. So, Ronaldo-bashing then...
As for Keane, he played what, ten games? He's gone far longer than that in England without scoring, and he grew up in that football culture. From what I've read, it was his poor poistional awareness if anything that slowed him, and if he'd been given time, I think he would have corrected that.
What exactly makes slowness a desirable quality in defenders? As brutish, uncouth Rooney sprints past them, will they defeat them with their slo-mo pinches, sly elbows to the ribs, etc.? Or will he score against the next Italian team Man U meet in Europe? What takes us neatly back to the point you've so suggestively ignored. Why do Italian teams get outscored by their far inferior EPL counterparts?
