I agree, the government has to be to blame for this, not the American paople.

...and that is why I take exception to many posts in this thread. Some people who hate our government make the mistake of forwarding their distate to our people...and that is something I will not stand for. People say well it's our fault for electing Bush and all that nonsense...no it's not our fault. It is not our fault because as righteous citizens we must vote for the candidate we think will serve our country well, while also knowing there is no such thing as promises in politics. And add to that the 48% of the Nation who supposedly voted for the other ticket in last year's election, it is hardly the fault of Americans as a whole for this ridiculous error in judgement.

As much as I am starting to wonder just what our ultimate goal is over there, and if we have the capabilities to obtain it, let me just say that I have a very good friend who is an MP who just came back from Iraq, after spending a little over a year in Baghdad.

luckily, he made it back to tell me what kind of chaos goes on there, and just how it feels to ALWAYS watch your front, back, sides, etc.... at all times !!!

But, he did tell me that the majority of Iraqi's he meet were very happy that the US is there, and how thankful they were that Saddam is no longer in power....thats no propaganda guys...thats truth !!!

He also said that most of these "insurgents" are not Iraqi...but ppl coming in from Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc....

Correct, which is why one of the most important necessities in Iraq involves protecting the borders from 1. Iran, 2. Syria. Not sure how they'll manage that but its imperative.

Interesting to hear. I can only imagine what these guys (and women) must be going through to have to be on alert for every man, woman, and child that approaches them, at any time of day. Nervewracking.

Encouraging to hear those words about appreciation. As for the percentage of insurgents being Iraqi, I think I read in the New York Times last weekend that it's projected to be around 90%. Which certainly differs from your friend's perspective.

true that but i doubt this adminitration's intent was the removal of Saddam. He was more of an obstacle. I actually had a long chat with someone from falluja the other day, and trust me the image of the US as liberators is long gone.
